PSSA Results Junior B and Senior B Netball Teams Win Grand

Finals

Congratulations to all the girls in my wonderful

netball teams.

The Senior B team had an amazing season being

undefeated throughout. It was wonderful to see

them grow each week in strength and confidence

as a team. The Semi Finals saw us win by over 20

goals, however, Prestons fought hard in the

Grand Final and with us down 1 goal in the final

quarter, the team showed real grit to come back

and win by 3 goals! I am still recovering!

The Junior B team had an amazing final’s season.

Having drawn and lost a game during the

competition, we knew it was going to be tough,

but the semi-finals lifted everyone, for what was

the best game of the season and we took a

convincing win. The grand final saw one of our

key players in America, and we were playing the

team that had beaten us during the season -

Prestons! However, the girls dug deep and

continued their amazing form to have another

convincing win. The improvement of all the

players throughout the season had to be seen to

be believed!

Thank you so much for my wonderful ‘team

managers’ who scored every week – Emma’s

mum in the seniors, and Jade’s grandmother in

the juniors. Your contribution cannot be

understated!!

Great work girls - your dedication to training and

the game each week was appreciated. You were

a delight to coach!

Jan Bartram

Senior and Junior A Netball Teams Both teams had an amazing season. The girls displayed sportsmanship as well as netball talent in every game they played. They trained hard and played hard. Their efforts were rewarded with both teams making the grand final.

The Junior team won their grand final and the senior team, after a few nail biting moments, were defeated. Win or lose, I was so proud of every single player because they gave their all in every game, not just the grand final. They were an absolute delight to coach! Congratulations all! Ann Dodd Girls Soccer 2018 Congratulations to all three teams for positively representing Wattle Grove both on and off the field each week. Thank you to the senior girls who helped coach and manage the junior teams, Mr Davies and Mr Harvey for helping referee, the parents who came to support the girls each week and to all the girls for their commitment this season. The Junior A’s had a great season and the girls learnt that teamwork goes a long way. With determination and good sportsmanship, the Junior A’s finished first in the Eastern division which progressed them into the semi-final. It was a nail biting semi against the undefeated Casula. The girls played hard but unfortunately lost 2-1. Although the girls were disappointed, I couldn’t be prouder of their continuous efforts all season. Well done Junior A’s!

The Junior B’s started the season with very little knowledge about soccer but you would never know watching them now! The girls played with enthusiasm and smiles every week and didn’t let anything get in the way of having a go. I’m very proud of how far the girls came throughout the season. Despite just missing out on the semi-finals, the Junior B’s finished third in the Eastern

division which is a great achievement! Well done Junior B’s!

What a season our senior girls had! From scoring up to 10 goals a game to making it to the grand final undefeated, with no goals scored against them all season. We didn’t know what to expect coming up against Dalmeny who also finished first in their division. We were leading by one at half time but it was still anyone’s game. Unfortunately, in the last 10 minutes, Dalmeny took the game 5-2. The score didn’t reflect how close the competition truly was. The girls were commended by Dalmeny’s coach for such a good game. Although it wasn’t the fairy tale finish the girls hoped for, they should be extremely proud of their incredible season and keeps their heads up! Well done Seniors! Ashley Solo

Year 6 Footy Fun Day Yesterday our school celebrated Footy Fun Day. All

students wore the colours of their favourite Footy

team and participated in a range of fun activities

which were organised by the students in Year 6. Some

of the stalls included: Lucky Dip, Footy Kicks, Haunted

House, Sponge Throw, Plaster Painting, Makeup and

Slime. There was even a huge jumping castle! One of

the highlights of the day was the Teachers/Parents vs.

Students Footy Match, which was held in the

afternoon. It was a close game that was refereed by

Terry Lamb, but the Year 6 students won! The money

raised will go towards the Year 6 Farewell at the end

of the year.

Postings As you know it is posting time again. Many of you would already know if you will be moving at the end of the year. Please make sure you contact the office/classroom teacher and DSTA to inform of students last day of school and where you will be moving to. This information is much appreciated by the school for further planning.

Education Assistance Scheme DCO provides a range of services and resources for Defence children, to assist with the transition between schools and education systems when a member is posted within Australia, and to provide support for the unique needs of Defence students. Defence may reimburse fees for educational services external to the school. Students may be entitled to up to 14 weeks of tutoring in any subject that has been recommended by the school principal or the child’s teacher. This applies to primary and secondary students, within the first 18 months of commencing at the new school.

Deployments and Absence Please make sure you let your child/ren’s classroom teacher or I know if a member of your family is away for an extended period of time. Having this knowledge will go towards supporting the student/s at school throughout the absence period.
