Social Change Model of Leadership Development (HERI 1996)

Created in 1996 for undergraduate college students by Helen and Alexander Astin through the Higher Education Research Institute at the University of California aims to integrate already established leadership development concepts

bull Leadership as a purposeful collaborative values-basedprocess resulting in positive social change and social responsibility

bull ldquoLeader is anyone who is willing to work with other people to make a difference

bull Collaboration means trust and common goalsbull Group members act in consistence with their own

bull Congruence - thinking feeling and behaving in a consistent and honest way towards others

bull Collaboration - to put common effort and to work effectively with other team members

bull Common Purpose - sharing aims and values and working for a grouprsquos purpose

Social Change Model of Leadership Development (HERI 1996)

Created in 1996 for undergraduate college students by Helen and Alexander Astin through the Higher Education Research Institute at the University of California aims to integrate already established leadership development concepts
