TECH QUEST: NANOTECHNOLOGY

a nanometer is a unit of measurement just like inches or feet. a nanometer is one-billionth of a meter. the width of a strand of hair is about 100,000 nanometers wide...too small to see with your eye. inside your computer there are components that are only 100 nanometers wide. 1,000 of them would fi t across the width of a single hair. nanotechnology is used to make these switches. important things happen at the nanometer level...come check it out. btw - if you’ve ever made popcorn...the molecules released from the popcorn when it pops are less than a nanometer in size and are so light they fl oat through the air...we smell them as they reach our nose. come learn more about nanotechnology at central tech in june.
