If bad habits develop now it will lead to further problems when they start to join their letters. If you need any help with this please email us. This weeks competition: Read a book in an unusual place. Grab a book and think of somewhere unusual to read it. Ask Mam/Dad to take a picture and send it to us on or before Thursday. The more unusual the better!

Tuesday Phonics – Just Phonics Page 60 Word families -ump Select the correct letter to go wth the word ending –ump to make a real word. Then try and fill the ladders with words that end in: all, old, ash, and ump. Examples fall, told, rash, jump. Tricky Words - Revision Again this week work on 2 tricky words which your child may be finding difficult. Get the children to put these tricky words into sentences orally. Writing – Dictation – call out the following sentences for the children to write: I like to jump in puddles. He told a lie to his mother. I must dash to the shop for rashers. I do not like lumps in my mash. Remember to focus on correct letter formation, correct use of capital letters and full stops/question marks.

Art – Design a Toy Shop Window If you won the lotto and could buy a Toy Shop what would it look like on the outside? What would you call it? What would be in the front window? Draw what it would look like.
The dog has big paws. The saw is very sharp. A hawk has long claws. Do you have a straw? Remember to focus on correct letter formation, correct use of capital letters and full stops/question marks. this is all revision so they should be familiar
with the words bigger, smaller, taller, shorter,
longer and smaller.

Drama - Ask the children to act out scenes from a shop. They can use toys or act it out themselves.
Friday Just Phonics page 75 – Revision of diagraph aw Ask the children to match the correct word to the picture. Then ask them to identify the animals that have claws and to write a sentence about them.
Oral Maths- Game: Allow the children to play board games such as Snakes and Ladders, Connect 4 or any games you may have at home. This will incorporate counting, recognising number on a dice etc.

Page 106 – the children are to measure the
items on the age using a cube, as you won’t
have cubes at home get them to use their blue
pencil sharpener.
Firstly allow them to estimate, remind them
this means to guess and then get them to
measure.
Page 107 – Again this page is to do with
estimating and measuring. If your child can’t
find the blue sharpener get them to use a piece
of lego or a similar small object which may
work.
