Job Purpose:

The ACE Teacher plays a special role, primarily as a “coach”, assessor and academic points awarder to the students, as they work in mixed teams to compete against other class groups.

You will also support in wider academic operations such as class administration, testing, specific grading of each stu-dent in your team & certificate preparation.

The spirit of international competition adds something special to the classes.

Attend the staff induction and assist with centre set up.

Assist with placement testing, team sorting, grading and certificate generation as led by the Academic Manager.

Record student register promptly and accurately, reporting any absentees to your Academic Manager.

Manage modules and student/team output in accordance with the course principles, module structure & objectives provided in the brief.

Carefully assess and record student performance score using the guidance & tools provided by your Competition Director.

Create a positive learning environment and take all necessary measures to ensure all students gain practice in oral communication, progress and have fun!

Attend all training, meetings and supervision sessions as required.

Where applicable and agreed, support the programme with your “specialist skills” in extra classes or activities.

Lead excursions, house-based events, and activities as scheduled.

Support student welfare with supervision at mealtimes, between activities and overnight in the form of 1 x per week ‘Sleep In’ duties, enforcing residential behaviour, curfew and “quiet time” and providing welfare cover.

Academic Manager

A Dusemond ACE Teacher works up to a 44 hour week, with working hours following the schedule of modules and ex-cursions throughout the 2-week programme. Typically, teachers will have evenings off, although you will have some evening presentations with your students and be rotad to assist and lead some excursions. You may also be asked to help assist special tasks as your hours allow.

Due to the short term nature of the role, annual leave is not part of this contract. 12.07% holiday pay will be added to your salary.

£440 per week+12.07% holiday pay

CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL/Qualified Teacher Status in English/Modern Language. Willingness to learn and adopt new teaching methods with observational input from your Academic Manager

Experience of teaching mixed age and ability students (References required)Experience of teaching English as a foreign/additional languageSound knowledge of different learning styles

Activity Leaders run engaging activities and tours for all (primarily in the evenings and some afternoons)
