In the film X-men, one of the main characters, Professor Charles Xavier is paraplegic but he is also a plot device as he helps to bring the
characters together within the film. Throughout the film, Xavier is
portrayed as a very strong, wise and knowledgeable character.
On this film poster, Xavier he his position at the bottom of the poster
which implies he isn't the most important character in the film
therefor disability in the this film may be not of great importance.
In the film Avatar, the main character, Jake Sulley is an ex soldier who is left
paralysed for the waist down and trains again to be a soldier in the
place of his deceased brother. When he is on site, he is sniggered at and
criticised because of his disability and him being in a wheel chair and highly
doubted throughout the start of the film and as the film progresses, he faces different obstacles due to his
disability.
Disability throughout this film is portrayed as a weakness because of
the requirements needed to participate in the army.
In the film Iron Man 3, the villain Aldrich Killian grew up with a
number of disabilities. At the start of the film, Kilian tries to have a
conversation with Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Stark pays no attention
to him because of his appearance.
Disability at this part of the film is portrayed as being unappealing
and irritating.
