new homes on land off Nantwich Road, Tarporley. A hearing was held at Winsford last month wherethe developers Fox Strategic Land and Property,local councils and residents all gave their views.The original scheme attracted over 1,000objections.

Chocolate vandalsTWO men wearing hoodies were seen carryinga cardboard box along High Street, Tarporley.It transpires that the contents, including Easter eggs were stolen from the Old Fire Station CoffeeShop a short while earlier and were then used ina spree of damage in the general area, smearingthe chocolate over property and cars andbreaking a window to a property on Park Lane bythrowing the items at it.

to start this estimated 18 month processof producing the Neighbourhood Plan for Tarporley. By drawing up this Plan, localpeople who live and/or work in Tarporleycan have their say in how they wish tosee Tarporley develop in the future. ThePlan will be an important document for planners and developer alike to consultbefore planning applications can begranted.

There are four working groups coveringeach of the four main themes:- Housing,Economy, Heritage & the Environment,and Community Facilities & Connections.Members of the Steering Group willbe at the Parish Council stand at theVillage Carnival on Saturday 14th Julyand we urge everyone to come alongand tell them about what they like anddislike about Tarporley as well as givinginformation about how they see the futurefor our village.

ri y bell At the beginning of June, bellringerseverywhere marked the QueensDiamond Jubilee in ways that only theyknow how (literally). In Tarporley a quarter peal of Bob Triples was rung to mark theend of the villages celebrations.The next major bellringing event,however, is open to everyone. Theobjective is to mark the opening of theOlympics by ringing bells throughout the

country as fast and loudly as possible for three minutes at 8am on 27th July. Theconcept is for anyone to ring any bell,anywhere even doorbells and dinner gongs, although perhaps we should drawthe line at re alarms! Further informationis to be found on www.allthebells.com.

A memorable jubileeNOW the Diamond Jubilee celebrations arebehind us it is time to re ect on what has turnedout to be a memorable few days in Tarporley. TheParish Council would like to take this opportunityto say thank you to all those organisations andmembers of the community who have workedso tirelessly over the last few months to ensurethe success of the celebrations. All the Jubileeevents were very well attended and it was lovelyto see so many street parties taking place up and

down the Village, with people joining together with friends and neighbours in a great spirit of community to celebrate the Queens DiamondJubilee.We would like to extend particular thanks to

members of the Rotary Club of Tarporley for organising the celebratory lm night and a trulywonderful barn dance, Peter Willis for his workin compiling a marvellous exhibition and to Mr and Mrs Alastair Stoddart for their kindness inopening up their garden for a memorable villagetea party attended by over 400 people. This eventalone raised 403 for the War Memorial CottageHospital. Thank you also to the churches whoplayed such a valuable role in the celebrationsand to the shops and businesses whose visualdisplays made the High Street a joy to behold.The Best Dressed Building or Shop Front

Competition was won by Tarporley ChocolateShop who decided to donate the 20 cash prizeto Tarporley Hospital, second prize was won bythe Chapel and third prize went to the dress shopCleopatra. Tarporley Antiques Centre must alsoreceive mention for their excellent antique-themeddisplay.None of the events could have taken place

without a large team of people joining together to create this wonderful celebration so thanks toyou all for making Tarporleys Diamond Jubileecelebrations so memorable.Tarporley Jubilee pictures are on page 66

Reign or shineTHE Big Lunch and Diamond Jubilee concert went aheadat Bolesworth Castle Sunday despite the torrential rainwhich continued to fall throughout the day.

A mid-afternoon decision to switch location was thecorrect one as the designated marquee becameunusable. Musicians rehearsed in padded coats andwellies and all was set for a lovely evening of music..... and it was delightful. The sell-out audience of 230were royally entertained by a wide range of music andeverybody was thrilled at the sight and sound of HelenMassey, soprano, in a red ball gown and wellies!!Organiser Anne McGrath said: Our thanks must goto the Bolesworth team who got the show on the road despite thedreadful conditions and they gallantly stayed to assist cars that becameembedded in the turf!It was a fabulous evening of music and song, accompanied by thedrumming of the rain on the marquee roof. The roof was not breachedand the evening ended with a rousing performance of Rule Britannia,accompanied by the massed choir of the audience and much agwaving. It was a very successful evening for the chosen charities andall the musicians need congratulating for performing so admirably insuch adverse conditions .... and thanks also to the audience who alsoplayed their part and made it a concert to remember.

THE Tattenhall JubileeFlowerbed which wasplanted in front of OlympusHouse specially for therecent celebrations. TheParish Council contributedas well as local shops andnearby businesses to pay for the plants and was a greatexample of the village allgetting into the spirit.The High Street in Tattenhalllooked great with its buntingand huge Union ags fromevery shop plus lots of

jubilee themed hangingbaskets all over the village.

seems to have been since I was reminded that last months article was due, and suddenly Imreminded again, then I must be about 150 Ishould think! Surely Ive only blinked and amonth has disappeared.

So, what pearls of wisdom can I pass on toyou this month? Im afraid I cant give youthe outcome of the Greek Elections, whetherGermany will dig deep into her pockets toresolve the Euro Crisis, or whether Spain do ordont want a bail out package. Such things areof course out of our control.

However, the thought of time racing on hasmade me think about some of the areas of

inancial planning that are within our control,and just like the gap between my articles, which

seems to get ever smaller, what may seemlike years and years before major life eventslike retirement, children going on to highereducation or getting married, tend to be upon uswithin the blink of an eye too.

There are no hard and fast rules about howto prepare for these events, just as long as youdo actually prepare for them. Many peopleare reluctant to use pensions as a retirement planning tool, and I am sure part of the reasonfor this is the constant change to the rules as towhat you can and cant contribute, when youtake the pension, how much you are likely to get at the end (remember pensions werent bornyesterday, so saving for a few years simply wont get you the income you need). Despite this theyare still one of the most tax ef icient ways of planning for retirement.

Based locally in Shropshire, where I have livedfor most of my life, I work closely with myclients to fully understand their financialaspirations, hopes and fears. I would like toinvite readers of Tarporley Talk to discover forthemselves my unique approach to financialplanning.

A DIAMOND Jubilee Path project for St Albans Church, in Tattenhall, has beenawarded 5,200 from Cheshire West andChester Councils Rural Support Steering

Group.There are two pathways to be upgradedwhich begin from the main gates at ChurchBank, one leading up to the main entranceof the church which will incorporate a newstonework design to celebrate the DiamondJubilee year and the other pathway throughthe churchyard which links up to a publicfootpath at Chester Road will be refurbishedwith a new levelled and gravelled surface.

Councillor Ralph Oultram, chairman of the Steering Group, said: The new pathswill not only address the issue of accessimprovements which are needed alongthe churchyard path, but will also leave alasting legacy to commemorate the Queens

Diamond Jubilee.Georgina Blackhurst, Project lead andChurchwarden of St Albans Church said:The majority use of the path through thechurchyard is for the public who have openaccess through the churchyard at all times.The surfacing on both paths is in poor repair and has been a real concern to us.Over the past few years St AlbansChurch, in conjunction with The Friends of St Albans, has worked extremely hard toimprove the amenity of our churchyard andgrounds.

The completion of the Jubilee path projectwould be another step towards improvingthe churchyard as a resource and openspace for the public to enjoy.It is hoped that groundwork will begin in late

August or early September with completionbefore the end of September.
