Book Summary: The story is about an eight year-old girl named Cassie Louise Lightfoot. Cassie lives in Harlem during the Great Depression. Cassie has a dream that she is free to go anywhere she wants. On the roof-top of her apartment building, “Tar Beach,” her dream comes true.
