Serengeti

Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, part of the great southern Serengeti ecosystem, borders the

Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Far off the beaten track, guests have nearly fifty

thousand acres to themselves!

Established to protect one of the more unique areas within the Greater Serengeti Ecosystem, Mwiba Wildlife Reserve offers excellent game viewing year round. The Great Migration passes through here in the green season, and in the dry season

you’ll see an abundance of animals gathering around the watering holes.

Located in the Mwiba Wildlife Reserve, set among huge stone boulders, ancient coral

trees and shady acacias, Mwiba Lodge is the newest addition to the Legendary

Lake Natron

Close to the Kenyan border within the Gregory Rift Valley lies Lake Natron, one of the most important flamingo breeding

grounds on earth.

Its alkaline waters are often bright red in colour, due to the salt-loving micro-

organisms that thrive here.

Caustic and forbidding in nature, Lake Natron is strikingly fascinating, and a

spectacle worth experiencing.

On the northern Tanzania boarder within the Gregory Rift Valley, stands the

astonishing mountain of Ol Doinyo Lengai - the “Mountain of God” in Maasai.

Unique in that it is the only known active volcano to erupt natrocarbonatite

(sodium-rich) lava. Its lava fountains harden midair, then shatter like glass.

Ol Doinyo Lengao rises majestically about 2,000 meters from the East Africa Rift

Valley depression to a summit elevation of 2,890 meters.

Burunge is located between Tarangire and Lake Manyara National Parks in Northern Tanzania. This wildlife corridor is of high

conservational significance, with game passing through year round.

On the plains, lions and cheetah make for exciting game viewing. Herds of elephant

and buffalo roam through the corridor, and in the dense woodlands in the inner part of the concession, leopards, eland

and lesser kudu can be seen.

Burunge

Within the Burunge, on the western side of the wildlife concession lies Chem Chem Lodge - offering bush luxury and

privileged access to this incredible wildlife rich wilderness.

Chem Chem has eight tented cottages, created from canvas, lava-stones and

wood. Blended perfectly with the natural environment, each tent has an outdoor

shower and wooden deck where you can watch the African sunset.

Chem Chem has a spacious central main house, surrounded by natural bush,

overlooking the Great Rift Escarpment and Lake Manyara National Park. The

pool is hidden in the trees and is a welcome escape from the afternoon heat.

Stretching for 50km along the base of the vast Rift Valley escarpment, Lake

Manyara is a scenic gem offering a wilderness experience in diverse habitats.

Its alkaline waters attract over 400 species of birds, the most prolific are pink

flamingos that flock here in thousands, and its acacia woodland is a haunt of

Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions.

On the banks of Tanzania’s Lake Eyasi lives the world’s last hunter-gatherer tribe

- the Hadza. They live a life unchanged for more than ten thousand years, hunting

baboons, birds, antelope and buffalo with hand-made bows and arrows, in a hot desolate landscape. Their language, Hadzane, is rhythmic and punctuated by clicks, and believed to be the oldest still spoken. About one thousand Hadza still live in caves, and no laws, taxes and or

money is of relevance to them.
