State President Carl Ledig and his team continue to raise money for the Florida Elks’ charitable programs and the Harry-Anna Trust Fund continues to grow as a result of the donations from our Lodge and others. Our Lodge is fortunate to continue to experience such generosity in its Wishing Well collections so that we remain #1 in our District for donations.

Let’s also remember to thank the Valentine Dinner volunteers: Julia Ferrell, Harry Symons, Bob Thorburn, Tracey Austin, Pat Stafford, Karla Jones, Wayne Harrell, and Tom Walden. Volunteer bartender Christy Ervin stayed open late for the convenience of the dining patrons as well as the volunteers who had some thirst after the dinner.

Thank you Chuck and Mary Anna Mohr for handling the administrative tasks related to the Pancake Breakfast – the mailing of the tickets, the receipt of

the envelopes, the organizing/counting of the monetary donations, and keeping it all straight. Thanks too, and a tip of the hat, to Trustee Dorothy Brown who has helped the club manager in the office when needed.

BURGERS-N-BLUES MONDAY March 14th Chris Balding and Brett Wellman will be doing another "Burgers-n-Blues Monday" in the lounge for Burger Night on March 14th, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. The last one was quite the hit and we are hoping that this one will bring even more folks out. If someone plays blues and would like to join in, by all means bring an instrument and come on! We had a bass player and a drummer in the audience last time, but no bass and no drums! This will be a lot of fun!

FRIDAY, MARCH 11TH

Come out and enjoy some tunes with your friends at karaoke! There seems to be a consensus that karaoke is better attended when we hold it on the second Friday of the month. So, this month’s

karaoke night will be on the SECOND FRIDAY, March 11th, at 7:00 p.m. We’ll give this a try for a time and see how it works out. Please join us; you won't be disappointed because we ALWAYS have a great time! SPAGHETTI DINNER, Held January 26th

The fundraiser for the Leon Wakulla Retired Educations Association was well attended and the Silent Auction had loads of fantastic items to bid on. NEW MEMBER CONTEST

A presentation will be made at the first meeting in March to award Chuck Mohr his winnings!

HONOR FLIGHT TALLAHASSEE

Honor Flight Tallahassee next trip to Washington D.C. is on Saturday, April 30, 2016. We have seven (7) Elks Lodge #937 members who have applied to go with us on this most memorable trip. One of

those who have applied and volunteered to take pictures for this Flight is Tom Dunaway. Our Elks Lodge has paid for Mr. Dunaway’s trip. This will be an exciting trip and each time, I see something new.

Honor Flight Tallahassee has contracted a 176 seat Charter Jet to Baltimore Maryland Airport. We will board three Charter Buses, along with

90 cases of water, 86 Wheel Chairs, two Medical Doctors, three nurses, eight EMT’s and 76 Guardians who will be the escorts for the many WWII and Korean War Veterans. We then proceed from the Baltimore Airport by Police Escort with blue lights flashing, sirens, all through Washington D.C. for our visit to the WWII Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Iwo Jima Memorial, United States Marine Corps Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Volunteer Guardians will assist Veterans during the trip to make sure all Veterans are safe, comfortable, cared for and able to enjoy this trip. Volunteer Guardians pay their own way to ensure that 100% of the proceeds go to the Honor Flight Mission.

There is no cost for a Veteran to participate in an Honor Flight. The trip is hosted in their Honor to thank them for their Service to our Country, which is why Honor Flight Tallahassee needs help from individual donors and corporate sponsors to help us fulfill our mission.

On our return flight home, all Veterans will receive “Mail Call” letters and cards from family and friends who wrote each Veteran Thanking them for their Service. A very happy moment.

Each return flight should arrive home around 9:30 PM where all families, friends and neighbors greet them. Last trip, we had over 3500 greeters at the Hangar to welcome those Veterans home.

A Great time was had by all. Tom Napier, Vice Chairman Honor Flight Tallahassee
