2015 MCS TECHNOLOGY SELF-ASSESSMENT - Overview

OVERVIEW On July 24, 2015 an email with directions and a link was sent to all MCS employees asking them to complete a SurveyMonkey survey which asks them to self-assess their comfort levels in the use of various technology hardware and software resources. Included in the survey was a question asking their interest level in certain technology training opportunities and preferred method of participation in training sessions. Based upon the respondent’s choice of job classification, the question logic would advance the user to a specific starting page in the survey. Teachers and Certificated Administrators were asked to complete responses relating to their comfort levels in various instruction-related technology hardware and software. Classified staff and administrators were programed to skip those sections. The email notification was sent again on August 3, 2015 with the following commentary:

PURPOSE: The Instructional Technology Department periodically does a technology skills self-assessment survey to tailor the best possible training program for our teachers, support staff and admin- istrators. To accomplish this, we need lots of input from teachers and staff. LOTS. WHAT’S IN THE SURVEY? The self-assessment has three components;

• State Standards-based technology integration strategies (for teachers, classified staff get to skip this part)

• User comfort level using various resources (all staff) • Training option preferences (all staff)

Some of these questions may seem a little daunting, even for technology savvy users. Please don’t under- or over-estimate your skills. Be honest

As of August 18, 2015 the following numbers of results were recorded:

• Teachers 404 • Classified Staff 235 • Certificated Admin 53 • Classified Admin 24
