Reproduction in plants

• Reproduction is a process of producing new individual or offspring.

• There are two types of reproduction in plants-asexual and sexual.

• Asexual reproduction involves production of new individual from single parent only. There is no involvement of two parents.

• Modes of asexual reproduction are budding, regeneration, sporulation, fragmentation and vegetative propagation.

• In sexual reproduction there is involvement of two parent plants. Plants that reproduces sexually have the reproductive structures called flower.

• Androecium is male reproductive organ of plants whereas Gynoecium is the female reproductive organ of the plants.

• Sexually reproducing plants are China rose, Apple, Guava, etc.
