MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRINICPAL What is Lent: Easter is when we celebrate the rising of Jesus after his death on the cross. It is a great day; because of Easter, we don't have to be afraid, and we never have to be apart from God. In the Parent Corner of the HUB we have a display of prayer tracts about Lent. You are welcome to come and have a look, read or spend some prayer time. You are invited to join us as we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our school’s Holy Week services commence at 9am under the shelter:

LENTEN CHURCH SERVICE:

• Wednesday 20th March 7.30pm at Immanuel Church Gawler IPAD APP REVIEW “FACTOR SAMURAI” by Lisa Champion

• This app is great for practicing mental computation skills. It helps kids to identify prime numbers and factors with skill and accuracy. It is best suited for years 3-7 students.

FRIENDLY FOOD FRIDAY Today students enjoyed Cheesy Melts. We used eggs from our chooks. These consisted of

• Pin wheel: Puff pastry smeared with vegemite, sprinkled with cheese, rolled and sliced then baked in oven for 15 mins.

• Savoury Toast: 250g bacon or ham diced, 500gm grated cheese, 6 eggs, 17 slices wholemeal bread. Mix all ingredients together with a sprinkle of seasoning. Place slices of bread on baking tray, using a fork spread mixture over the bread. Place in oven for 20min on 180o.

• Both these items can be frozen and pulled out the freezer each morning to place in lunch box.

FAMILY NIGHT “CIRCUS IMMANUEL - UNDER THE BIG TOP”

Saturday 23rd March 2013 5.00pm to 8.00pm

Bring your own picnic tea or purchase from the hot dog stand, fruit salad & icecream, cold drinks, hot coffee, pop corn, fairy floss. Lots of games and entertainment for all ages. Come dressed in your best circus costume and take part in the dress parade and win a prize. Enter the colouring in competition and win a prize. Attached are the colouring in pages to use.

3. Year 4-7 students are asked to design and submit their own A4 size poster. Please return your entries to the office by Thursday 21st March.

To make this a fun and successful evening we need your help with any of the following: 1. Donations of small items for children’s game prizes - clean out that cupboard of left over party goods

eg. balls, whistles, puzzles, bracklets, cars, etc 2. Each year level will be collecting a theme of items to put towards raffle prizes and auction items.

Items donated can range from $1 to whatever your budget allows. Please leave your items in the designated area of your child's year level block: R/1 Sports, Games, Party 2/3 Pantry & Chocolate 4/5 Garden & Car Care 6/7 Men’s and Ladies / health and beauty 3. Loan of outside shade tents to create the sideshow alley. Please drop these off to the office the week prior
