SYMPHONIC BAND ILLINOIS GRADE SCHOOL MUSIC ASSOCIATION

STATE FESTIVAL PRAIRIE VIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL

FRIDAY & SATURDAY, APRIL 27 & 28, 2018

We are proud to announce that Prairie View will once again be the host of the Illinois Grade School Music Association State Band Festival on Friday & Saturday, April 27th & 28th. The festival is open to the public so please invite your friends and family to come listen to our performance! It is a great feeling to see friendly faces in the audience during a band festival. Please be aware that in accordance with the Illinois Grade School Music Association, there will be a $1.00 admission charge for all attending the performance. The Symphonic Band performs at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th. Band Members are to arrive to Prairie View at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 28th, dressed in full band uniform including; black uniform shoes, black socks or nylons, and cleaned & pressed tuxedo shirt. Report to the Band Room. Even though we are hosting this contest we must abide by the rules of the I.G.S.M.A.. While in the homeroom we must keep the noise level down to a minimum and there is no playing of instruments. When moving through the hallways, there is to be no talking. We must provide a good example to the other groups that will be in attendance. After our performance, we will go back to the band room to put instruments away then proceed to the cafeteria for the posting of our score. Please bring enough money for food and souvenirs. You are free to go home after our performance.

SCHEDULE FOR THE DAY

8:30 Arrive to Prairie View, report to Band Room dressed in full uniform. All band members sit in their seats to go over final details.

9:25 Warm-up and Tune-up in Warm-up Room. 10:00 Symphonic Band Performance in Gym 10:40 After our performance, go back to band room, put instruments away

quietly and proceed to cafeteria for food & score posting. After our score is posted you are free to go home and enjoy the day.

KIRBY SCHOOL DISTRICT 140 Tinley Park, Illinois FIELD TRIP PERMISSION FORM Dear Parent or Legal Guardian: Field trips of educational value are planned by our staff during the school year as a supplement to the regular classroom program. We are planning a field trip, described below, which we feel will be beneficial to your child. Please indicate whether or not your child has your permission to participate. Please complete the lower portion of this form and return the form to the school. A school nurse may not be available to give personal nursing attention to students when off-campus on field trips. I understand that any medication specified by physician’s order may be administered to my child by a designated adult in accordance with the instructions of the physician. District 140 Band Parent Organization

Adult Volunteers Needed!!

Volunteers are needed for the upcoming IGSMA State Organization Festival that will be held at

Prairie View on Friday & Saturday, April 27th & 28th, 2018.

Our Symphonic, Concert and Cadet Bands are performing at this event

along with other area bands. This is a very important festival for our district and our bands!

The Band Parents will need approximately 30 parents per shift

in the areas of Uniforms, Concessions, Admissions, Gym Set Up,

and Hallway, Gym, and Warm-Up Room Monitors.

Your help is vital to the success of this contest.

The available shifts are:

FRIDAY EVENING Shift 1: 3:30 PM – 6:45 PM

Shift 2: 6:45 PM – 10:00 PM

SATURDAY Shift 1: 7:15 AM to 12:15 PM

Shift 2: 12:15 PM to 5:00 PM

District 140 Band Parent Organization Dear Band Parents, The District 140 Band Parents are hosting the IGSMA State Festival this year at Prairie View Middle School on Friday and Saturday, April 27th & 28th. We are asking parents to donate beverages and store bought baked goods that will be sold during the competition. We are asking each band student to contribute a 12 pack of soda or water and baked goods based on their sections.

The baked goods need to be store bought and contain no nuts or nut products. We ask that you package these items at home in ziplock sandwich bags to sell as individual servings. For example; one brownie or two medium sized chocolate chip cookies per bag. All food and beverage donations are to be dropped off at Prairie View on Thursday, April 26th, between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. If you cannot drop off your donations during this time, please email Dave Cunico to make other arrangements.
