From the President

The drought is taking its toll on the enjoyment of my

summer so far. The blessed rains that came the week

of June 12th were a welcome respite, but as true

North Dakotans, we anxiously await more. The

bounty of our lands may be banked until another year

without these continued precious rains. Our

prosperity depends so much on our short growing

season and those precious few inches of rain each season. If you are like

me, we begin each summer with a host of weekend commitments and

plans for the family and friends that often include travel and projects that

we put off until summer. Often our summer plans are a few moments to

take a breather from the commitments we accept with offices in our

churches, groups and volunteer organizations, but we must remember that

those responsibilities go on; whether on a daily or weekly basis and we

cannot neglect them or they suffer.

Keep Sons of Norway on your mind this summer, think about who you

would like to share it with and pass those names onto the office for an

invitation to a fall membership dinner. It’s a topic that can come up in

polite conversation at any time! Think about your family who might

benefit from financial planning or a neighbor who might enjoy our monthly

cultural socials. All are welcome to come and see and experience what

our lodge has to offer.

A lifetime in a day

The week started out like any other Monday. Then the call came. A client/friend had died. It was two calls that morning. Two men in different states that were unrelated, with their own family and stories had passed over the weekend. The only thing they had in common was they were members of Sons of Norway and had life insurance. That is why I got the calls. When I attend a funeral or memorial service my mind takes me to my relationship with that person and their family. I never would have known these two men if it weren’t for Sons of Norway. I am grateful our paths crossed. I have a sense of thankfulness that because of our previous relationship, their families will have one less thing to worry about while they mourn the loss of their loved ones. Others work with grieving families, pastors, morticians, doctors to name a few. It isn’t easy. I am appreciative that my work begins as a discussion on helping a family in the future and knowing that in the end that person has given a little piece of mind to their loved ones. Rest in peace dear gentlemen. Sons of Norway is delivering its promise for you. Ann Krause, FIC, LUTCF Financial Benefits Counselor Sons of Norway 701-720-2755 Email: [email protected]

good men and women to be mentors in their

Community Mentor Program. Can you reach out to

at-risk youth to help them make better life choices

and develop healthier relationships with strong adult

mentors like yourself? You won’t know if you don’t

try. Charles Hall staff will help you find your

strengths and match you with a young man or young

Direct From Norway on July 6th Tidlos is a Christian band from Norway who is

very fond of hymns and Norwegian folk music.

Their name is Tidlos - meaning timeless in English

- because much of the music they play is timeless.

Tidlos has 6 members, vocals, guitar, piano,

drums, bass and accordion / whistle / Irish

bousouki.

They have been touring a lot in Norway and were

on a USA tour in the autumn of 2016. Their

music/lyrics are mostly in Norwegian but they

have translated some of the lyrics into English.

They will have CD’s available for sale after the

program.

Our lodge will be hosting coffee and ice cream

after the 7 PM free program in the Reid

Auditorium of the ND Heritage Center. Join us

and bring a friend. Our thanks to the ND

Heritage Center for helping us host this event for

the public. They are heading to Dickinson after

our concert.
