    STORING

    Milk storage vats or silos are refrigerated and come in various shapes and sizes.Milk is usually stored on the farm at 39 degrees Fahrenheit, or colder, for no

    PASTEURIZATION

    Involves pushing the raw milk through an atomizer to form tiny particles sothat the fat is dispersed evenly throughout the milk, stopping the fat fromfloating to the top of the container.

    Includes micro-filtration, increasing the storage life by ultra high temperature(UHT) treatment, and mixing or culturing milk for flavored and yogurtproducts.

    At present, Mehsana Dairy spends Rs 40 crore

    annually to transport around 12 lakh litres milk daily viaroad in tankers from Mehsana to its Dudhmansagarplant in Manesar, where the milk is processed,packaged, transported to Delhimarket and sold under'Amul' brand name.

    Milk will be carried in insulated tankers of 24,000litres capacity each (50 bogies for 12 lakhlitres).with the railway route in place.
