Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing a sustained double-digit growth rate, with 10.99 per cent posted during the year 2015-16 and 12.2 per cent in the first two quarters of 2016-17, which is higher than the average growth rate of India.

Amaravati, the Greenfield capital of Andhra Pradesh, is being developed with emphasis on resilient urban infrastructure, promotion of smart technology and creation of sustainable public spaces.Fourteen ports, twelve airports, an integrated road-network of 1,23,334 km with inter-region connectivity and 888 kilometres of national inland waterways are being developed in the sunrise state. The state already has four functioning ports – Visakhapatnam, Krishnapatnam, Gangavaram and Kakinada. Krishnapatnam Port is fast becoming a port of choice for all international cargo originating from and destined to the Southern and Central India. Another upcoming private port is at Machilipatnam for which land pooling is in progress.

The Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor passing through the state will boost development in Krishnapatnam industrial area, attracting investment in automotive, electronics, pharmaceuticals and petrochemical sectors. Development in Vizag-Kakinada and Gannavaram-Kankipadu clusters will pick up with the Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor. Sri City has been a ‘Vibrant & Fastest Growing Industrial Park. India’s first CEZ is coming up in Krishnapatnam.

Visakhapatnam has emerged as a major industrial centre and has major establishments producing large scale industrial goods ranging from steel, metals, petroleum, polymers, fertilizers, heavy engineering equipment, ship building, ports and fishing. Kakinada has multiple fertilizer refineries and produces natural gas from the offshore of KG basin, in addition to seafood exports and agricultural products like rice, corn, edible oils, oil meals, processed food, chemicals, biofuel. Vijayawada is famous for processing of agricultural products, automobile body building, hardware, textile, consumer goods and small scale industries.

Sustaining this robust economic growth in the sunrise state requires ‘SMART’ logistics. Smart logistics will improve delivery reliability and simplify the supply chain management, benefiting the exim community. Thus, Maritime Gateway is just-in-time to announce the debut event themed “Smart Logistics Summit & Awards 2017 – Amaravati.” Through thoughtful and constructive sessions and interactions, the summit aims to bring together logistics service providers, users (business community) and the government to deliberate on the existing challenges and explore opportunities to make logistics smart. The awards will showcase outstanding achievements and exceptional accomplishments of individuals and organizations in the logistics sector.
