The School of Life Science (Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Environmental Science and
Microbiology & FST), Institute of Science, GITAM (Deemed to be University),
Visakhapatnam is organizing a two-day National Conference on “New Horizons in th th
Nutrition, Health and Environment -2020 (NHE-2020)” on 9 and 10 January, 2020 at
GITAM (Deemed to be University), Visakhapatnam. With over 500 participants
expected from all over India, the conference promises to be a gathering of scientists,
researchers, students, and industry professionals focusing in the areas of Nutrition,
Health, and Environment. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in
research and learning, to connect with leading experts in their field and allow them to
gain knowledge at personal level.
The conference is planned to include diverse fields of health viz therapeutics,
diagnostics, clinical and public health related issues. The sessions are designed to
highlight the impact of nutrition and environment on health. The two day schedule of
the conference includes plenary sessions and key note lectures by the experts in the
field, the young scientists will present their ideas as oral and poster presentations.
School of Life Science :
The department of Environmental Studies was established in 1995 and carries out
research work in environmental remediation technologies and environmental
geochemistry. The department of Biotechnology was established in 1997 and carries
out research work in the various fields like seribiotechnology, molecular oncology and
immunology. The department of Microbiology & FST was established in 1998 and
carries out research in antimicrobial studies, probiotics and carbon sequestration. The
department of Biochemistry and Bioinformatics was established in 2001 and is active in
thrust areas including bioactive compounds, cancer biology, and bioinformatics. The
School of Life Science has more than 100 completed and on going research projects
from DST, DBT, UGC, DRDO, CSIR, ICMR, MoES, UGC-DAE-CSR and also strengthened
with consultancy from NTPC, AU, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, Port Trust, etc. In
addition, the school is supported by two FIST projects from DST.

Call for abstracts
Papers on any of the above mentioned themes are invited. The participants are requested to
email their abstract (maximum 500 words with 1.5line space, Times new Roman, font 12) to
[email protected]). Selected full-length papers will be published as proceedings in a
special issue of Springer nature. The full-length papers should be original research work and
report new and significant findings with plagiarism under 10.

Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM), a Deemed to be University
under section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, is a premier educational institution in the country
imparting quality education. GITAM is located at Visakhapatnam and has two off-
campuses at Hyderabad and Bengaluru. GITAM is a multi-disciplinary and multi-campus

supported by four DST-FIST in Life Science, Environmental Studies, Chemistry, and
Physics. The institute is supported by highly qualified faculty with varied research interest
attracting funding from various agencies as well as students from India and abroad. The
students passing out are employed by well known Pan Indian and International
companies. Many of the students pursue higher studies in other reputed Universities.

ranges of Eastern Ghats facing the Bay of Bengal. This beautiful city forms harmonious
