JOY IN DOING . . . by David W. Spillman

Do you ever get bored with God? I'm not talking about the way we do "church" or "being religious" in general, but God Himself. Do you ever get bored with Him? Is it because you have made God into a religion? Just a bunch of rules to follow that make life seem bland? Look at this line in a song that King David wrote: "I take joy in doing your will, my God, for your instructions are written on my heart" (Psalm 40:8 NLT). How do you view God's instructions? Just some stuff to know and to be able to regurgitate in a Bible class setting? Are His instructions just simply something that is to be rehearsed and rehearsed over and over again but never lived out? What if we all began to do as King David wrote? What if we all began to write God's instructions on our hearts instead of just keeping them in the memory museum of our brains? Just as our heart pumps blood through our veins giving our bodies life, what if now our hearts started pumping through our bodies God's instructions that are written on them to give us life? And as we have life through His instructions, we actually start doing His will? This is where the joy will come from! Joy in doing the will of God will be as natural as the beating of our hearts!

VBS (July 10—13) Update

Register on our website (cocnw.org) by June 18th to participate in VBS and receive a special prize! Mark your calendars NOW — our next event is set for Saturday, June 24th. We need all hands on deck, as we are getting all the props set up throughout the building. Volunteers — we need you! Thanks to all who have been helping!

SHULTS-LEWIS CAN-A-THON

Once again, we have the privilege of giving so others may thrive. You will find change cans on the lower shelf of the table in front of the main bulletin board. Help yourself to taking one and filling it with change. You have until fall to keep fillin’, at which time the cans will be collected and given to Shults-Lewis.

Answers will be printed in next week’s bulletin! They are in the Bible — try and locate them!

T-shirts and Golf Shirts

Recently when we announced we were going to be ordering t-shirts & golf shirts there was some confusion about them being for LTC. They are not. They are just for our congregation. The Logo is going to be large on the center of the front of the t-shirts and on the lapel of the golf shirts. So we are going to collect orders again and give everyone the chance to order them now that it is understood they are not for LTC. For future reference we may order Hearts on Fire shirts later. Order will be placed June 26, 2017. Thank you and sorry for the confusion. Cindy DeVore
