MISSION MILESTONES

Let us not forget about our adopted children. Have you communicated with him/her lately? They love to hear from us.

February 22nd Mark & Debbie Pleasant

ALONE? NEVER! by David W. Spillman

Every person has a story. The older I get, the more I realize the need to slow down and to listen to those stories with an open mind and a non-judgmental, compassionate heart. After all, didn't Jesus Himself say, "God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through Him" (John 3:17 NLT)? Since Jesus walked on this earth, just like you and I are doing right now, not judging (condemning) but saving, what does that say our encounters with others should look like?

Every person is going through some sort of inward battle. Often, these inward battles come from outward circumstances. Sometimes these battles do not manifest themselves outwardly but are buried deep within the recesses of the human heart. Whether it is some sort of an addiction, or depression, anxiousness---this is when people feel alone. This is where you and I come in IF we are living Jesus, just simply being His church!

Do you remember the man with leprosy from Mark1:40ff? Alone. Forgotten. Hurting inwardly just as much as he was hurting outwardly from this horrific disease. Who did he call out to when he saw him within shouting distance? Jesus! Why? Why did he call out to Jesus instead of some of the other religious folks? Because he knew that Jesus had come to deliver, not condemn! This should be speaking vol-umes to all of us right now! How do those around you view you? Think of other similar encounters with Jesus, where the individual called out to Jesus and ask yourself, if that had been me there instead of Jesus, would that person have reached out to me?

Psalm 34:18 says, "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed." The brokenhearted...close to the Lord. If these are the ones the Lord is close to, then is this who I am close to? This is where I want to be! And, if Jesus is about rescuing those whose spirits are crushed, then that is what I want to be about in my daily life!

Going into all the world not to judge and condemn...but going into all the world with the saving message of Jesus Christ! God blesses!

Don’t forget there is a VBS meeting coming up on March 3rd after worship. There will be a light lunch served. See the bulletin board to sign up. If you have questions, see Ryan.

This is a reminder that those going on the mission trip owe $324 per student. Adult chaperons are covered.

We will be doing some fundraising to help with this cost. The first fundraiser will be on March 17th at 5 PM in the fellowship hall, which will be a spaghetti dinner for the congregation. We may even do an auction type thing where members will be able to buy the services of a teen for yard work and the like.

As always, a simple thing you can do to raise money is to write letters to family and friends asking for assistance.

We do not want anyone to be unable to go because of money. If you are having trouble with the amount even after the fundraising, please come and talk to me. The church will help out to ensure that every teen has a chance to go on these mission trips. Ryan

If each person (110 people) gave $.84 more each week, we would have an additional $4,690 in 1 year; that is $ 5 more than 1 week’s budget and $ 140 more than our current shortfall! $.84 per week for 52 weeks totals $ 43.68. Let us all look at our own budgets and see what we can do.
