• Exterior view of Wellness Center provides 3 sliding doors that during the summer

month connect to the existing outdoor pool area.

• Indoor pool has regulated temperature control to avoid frosted windows during the

colder months.

• Water recycling systems and treatment on site.

Building location and general context.

Explain/hypothesize why it is located there.

The Sun N Fun Wellness center is located inside the Sun N Fun RV Resort.This resort is located in Sarasota, Florida on Fruitville Rd. right off of theI-75 exit.It is 10 miles from the Beaches and it’s the biggest RV and CampingResort ground in the state of Florida.It is a large Resort community where most guest have their second home(also known as vacation houses). People who wish to stay in this facilitycan also rent trailers or rent a parking for their RV for as long asneeded.

The reason why the Wellness Center was created was that most guestwanted a space where they can do all the same activities during thewinter months indoors without loosing the feeling of the outdoors.By the use of double height , regulated temperature, glass façade, andextra fitness options, the facility improves the overall experience for itsguest.Having the center located right by the office and bar area affords moresecurity and in case of emergencies, personnel can enter quickly andefficiently in the resort.

Typology

After visiting the facility we concluded that the building would fit ourtypology very well because currently they do not rent individual rooms.The only rental service at the moment is RV parking sites and the rentof trailer homes. Implementing Sustainability would compliment thecurrent lifestyle , as mentioned from Steve Redman the lifestyle RegionalManager, “ we were already practicing eco-friendly and green practicesbefore it was even common”.

The open spaces and double height allows us to create a hotel withgood ventilation and outdoor views. A great part of this facility is itsconnection with the existing pool by the use of the 3 sliding doorsthat can be open during the hot summer months.

Building significance

The building is located in the most important area of the resort and it iswhere most guest spend their day, especially in the pool and bar area.

The Wellness center as mentioned from Steve Redman the Lifestyle RegionalManager “this building has made a great impact”. It has allowed the resortto afford more options to its guest and supply them with a much neededfitness facility.

Children as well as adults can enjoy the indoor pool during the wintermonths.

If designed to be a hotel it will increase revenue and attract more guestlooking for single or couple rooms instead of renting an entire trailer.

Most guest spend their time around the wellness center and if convertedinto a hotel right next to the pool area , most guest would want to renttheir room on site versus renting a trailer or RV site that are farther away.

The building is LEED Gold certified since 2012 and would help us workbetter with the sustainable principles

Due to the secluded areas surrounding the

Resort , The Sun N Fun RV Resort provides a lot

of activities and forms of entertainment. One

area of interest was the fresh market across the

street from the Resort that provided farm fresh

produce from the farm right behind the

building.
