Weekly Classes offered in the Wellness Center:

“Being of service to others is what brings true happiness.” - Marie Osmond

Studies have shown that volunteering, service projects and giving of ones time

and resources is not only good for those receiving but for the giver as well. It

benefits the giver both mentally and physically such as:

    Lower blood pressure

    Increased self esteem

    Less depression

    Lower stress levels

    Longer life

    Greater happiness

Each month of 2018 we will be offering the opportunity for some form of

service. Our first project will be on January 29th making cards for children’s

hospitals. Not artistic? That’s O.K.! All ability levels are welcome. Check the

Summit UP each month for the next project. We hope you’ll join us for this

    Looking Ahead...

  • HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Let’s start the year off right. Can we jump start

our daily devotional time? Are we setting aside

enough time for prayer? What areas of service can we

    commit to in 2018?

Join me in challenging ourselves to adjusting our priorities. My

prayer is for us to open ourselves up to new possibilities. Make

us mindful of the small nudges we receive from the Holy Spirit

so that we can become the person God wishes us to be in the

    new year.

I’m excited to announce a new bible study by Richard Rohr

called Falling Upward. Rorh writes: Most of us tend to think of

the second half of life as largely about getting old, dealing with

health issues, and letting go of life, but the whole thesis of this

book is exactly the opposite. What looks like falling down can

largely be experienced as "falling upward." In fact, it is not a

loss but somehow actually a gain, as we have all seen with

elders who have come to their fullness.

I look forward to discussing our ability to “come to our

fullness” together. We will be in the new study on Tuesday,

January 16th in the Wellness Center Conference Room at

10:00 a.m. Books are available in my office for $11.50, or a

copy is available in the library for your convenience.
