Year 2

Nursery & Reception

It has been a really fun, exciting and busy term in Year 2. We started the term with a trip to The National Botanic Gardens of Wales where we had an interesting and enjoyable workshop on plants and seeds. We have also learnt all about The Great Fire of London, Samuel Pepys’ diary and we have compared a Victorian seaside with our own.

We have had a wonderful year in the Early Years with many highlights, it is hard to believe that we have reached the end. We have enjoyed learning all about pirates, water and sea life this term and had a fantastic time at the Botanic Garden of Wales getting very wet! Thank you to all of the parents for your support throughout the year, we are looking forward to some new and exciting themes in September.

It really is hard to believe that it is the end of the year. As they say, ‘time flies when you are having fun!’ This term the children have thoroughly enjoyed learning all about plants and they have planted a variety of seeds and have nurtured them in the school garden. They were also very keen to go on a sculpture hunt on our trip to the Botanic Gardens and they have created their very own sculptures out of clay.

Year 6

Year 5 have enjoyed a wide variety of activities this year including their fabulous trips to Manor Adventure, Cog Moors, Craig Y Nos, Wales Millennium Centre &London. We had a super day in our Onesies enjoying a film and pizza as we had filled our marble jar with 100 marbles. We have made kites, Greek urns, and given wonderful presentations on The Earth, Sun & Moon, The Ancient Greeks and famous Naturalists. Wow!! Keep up the hard work Year 5 and enjoy

Time flies when having fun and this year has flown by! Year 3 children have enjoyed learning about the Vikings and making a large Viking longboat in the middle of the class! On French day, they wrote their own French menu and decided what to order. We had fun singing French songs and rhymes. Another highlight of the term was our trip The National Botanic Garden of Wales. All enjoyed walking in the bluebells, through the woodland. Well done Year 3 on another excellent term. We have really enjoyed teaching you

Year 6 has had another busy term and after their Induction day in the Senior School can't wait for Year 7. They have been an exceptionally hardworking class, but also know how to enjoy themselves - as you can see here at the Graduation disco!

Throughout this term, the Year 4 class have discussed and developed their understanding of teamwork and kindness. As well as formal learning tasks there have been practical opportunities to put their skills to the test and forge positive core values. Children have been issued with Kindness Cards, to encourage and reward random acts. In to the last few days of term the class worked in groups to produce a St. Michael's flag that represents our school colours and core values. It was especially pleasing to see the inclusion of symbols such as a star. This idea emanated from this term's Science topic.

Prep pupils visit RAF

War Veteran John

Hamilton Nicholls

Year 6 Graduation Disco

Centenarian Veteran RAF Pilot On May 27th 2016, Vindya, Taimur and I went to Ael-y Cartref Care Home in Ammanford to meet a 100 year old WW11 RAF pilot. Known as Wing Commander Jack in the war, he fought many battles and was very lucky. He was happy to share with us his time and recall some of his stories. Jack worked on the Western Railway before he was in the RAF and when war broke out, he went for an interview. They told him to look out of the window for a minute and then state everything he could see. He passed with flying colours and was sent on a training course. He succeeded and went into battle. When he was on his first mission, he and his mates were not scared at all. He was told to fly a Spitfire from his base in Cornwall. It was an easy mission and gave him some experience. When at Cornwall he stayed for a few days and then was sent to Italy. In Italy he was on another mission and was being chased by enemy aircraft. He had no ammo and was dodging frantically. Finally, he shook them off and got back to base. This was one of his many exciting stories. Next, he explained to us how they dropped bombs.

Many thanks yet again to the PTA’s continuous support. They funded the Year 6 Graduation Disco.
