R R R R SAMUEL PEPYS SCHOOL SUMMER TERM 2017 NEWSLETTER Dear Pupils, Families and Friends We’ve had another very busy end of the school year! Thank you to all the pupils and their families for taking part in our active sports day (despite the rainy start to the day!) we enjoyed celebrating individual determination and enthusiasm as well as interactions and team work across a variety of physical activities. Our swimming galas have also been a great opportunity to show water confidence and swimming skills. We are delighted with all the achievements the pupils make and this year we have particularly been proud of achievements with entry level qualifications at KS4 and P16, also a group of young people in P16 who have worked towards their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, including an overnight camping expedition. We were also pleased to celebrate the achievements of Bethany, Livvy, Cameron and Jack D in the Queen Mother’s Handwriting Awards; Well done! Thank you so much for all the highly positive comments via the end of year reports and celebrations, we do appreciate your feedback. Thank you to all our staff team; we say thank you and good bye to Claire D, Tom B, Nicky T and Zac and, of course, Jane is heading out onto the waterways as she retires. We wish you all well and will miss you. Our very best wishes go to each of the fourteen young people and their families who are leaving Samuel Pepys this summer-we will miss you all and wish you the best in your new ventures and opportunities. We hope families will join us for our end of year achievements assembly starting at 2.00pm on Thursday 20th July in the gym. Thank you to parents Kat and Paula who have shared ideas and information for summer holiday activities, if we are aware of events we try and post information on our families board in the reception area and via email. Again, on behalf of all the staff and governors we wish you a happy, safe, enjoyable summer break and look forward to welcoming pupils back to school on Tuesday 5th September. Best wishes Joanne Friends of Samuel Pepys Barbecue We were delighted to see so many pupils, families and staff at the BBQ on Friday, a record number of burgers and sausages were cooked! BBC TV Programme

Hi there,

I am a producer writing from the hit BBC One

prime time series ‘Eat Well For Less?’ which is in

currently casting for the fifth series!

My reason for writing is that we are currently on

the lookout for fun and lively families who would

like to save some money on their weekly shop

and eat more healthily. We would love it if the

school would be willing to share some

information with your staff and parents in case

any of them would like to apply? I’ve popped

some information about the series below for you.

The show follows Masterchef’s Gregg Wallace &

award winning greengrocer Chris Bavin on a

mission to prove that it is possible for families to

save money on their food budget without

scrimping on taste and nutrition. They hope that

by analysing the shopping habits of UK families,

they can help to show where we can source the

best and cheapest quality food.

Eating healthily and to a budget is something we

feel affects most of us and we’d be really

grateful if you could help us spread the word

about the new series amongst your families at

your school and staff.

If you think you know any families/households

that may be interested in appearing on the

programme, please do pass on our details.

Thanks so much and I look forward to hearing

from you.

Kind regards,

The Eat Well For Less Team
