Spend your summer in the spotlight at The Rose! When you enroll in a drama, dance, musical theater, voice or acting camp at The Rose, you know that you are going to have an amazing time learning new skills, expanding your creativity, honing your technique and growing as a performer while having the time of your life!

In Summer 2020, The Rose will be doing some GROWING, too! Our 2020 summer camps will be the first classes offered at the new Rose Studios for Youth Artists. This new space at 12100½ West Center Road (just north of our current Rose West Studio) features 27,000 square feet of classrooms dedicated to musical theater, dance, voice, acting, creative drama and technical theater.

As one of the largest youth theater education spaces in the United States, The Rose Studios for Youth Artists features a total of 11 classrooms, including dance studios, music rooms, acting spaces and more. In addition, a 200-seat auditorium space allows student artists even more on-stage time for both rehearsals and performances. Young performers will enjoy state-of-the-art music equipment for the best sound experience, sprung floors with protective marley coverings to protect growing bones and joints, and a space to eat lunch, take snack breaks and socialize with other young artists. It is our goal to make The Rose Studios for Youth Artists a world-class training facility for young people, right in the heart of Omaha.

Of course, we will continue to offer a full slate of classes at The Rose Theater Downtown, giving young performers a wide range of options to fit your family’s needs.

Enroll today for a summer deserving of a standing ovation!

It’s 1955, and into a square little town rides a guitar-playing young man who changes everything and everyone he meets. Loosely based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you jumpin’ out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” and “Jailhouse Rock.”

This whimsical show follows two great friends – the cheerful, popular Frog, and the rather grumpy Toad – through four fun-filled seasons. Waking from hibernation, Frog and Toad plant gardens, swim, rake leaves and go sledding. Throughout the year, two best friends celebrate and rejoice in the differences that make them unique and special.

Students will fully participate in the process of rehearsing and performing a staged musical. Students will have the opportunity to improve their individual performance techniques, understand the entire show process, and work together as an ensemble while making new friends and memories. Tuition covers the class, four show tickets and a souvenir T-shirt.

His friends Mole, Badger, and Water Rat make every effort to protect Toad’s residence from the Ferrets and Weasels of the Wild Wood. Will Toad escape from jail and regain Toad Hall? Will he learn a lesson about his boastful and impetuous ways?

Act out the classic tale of the great lion Aslan, his struggle with the White Witch, and the adventures of four children who inadvertently wander from an old wardrobe into Narnia. The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end the reign of Aslan. This story of love, courage, and giving is a true celebration of the triumph of good over evil.

Class Code #11-DBAR-906Heidi Ho: The Improv Show Ages 10-14Dates: June 22 - July 11 (M-F) (No class July 3rd)Time: 9:00 am - 4:00 pmLocation: Rose TheaterTuition: $400Performances: July 10 (5:30 pm) & July 11 (5:30 pm) Rose Theater

How would you like to do a play with lots of rehearsal, no lines to memorize, and a completely different performance every time? Then join us for 3 weeks of improv fun as we build our improvisation skills, work together as an ensemble, and practice theater games like Superheroes, Questions Only, Great Answering Machine, and more. The class ends with performances of a live improv show where the lines will be made up on the spot!

Students do all the acting in these multi-week, fully-staged and rehearsed theater productions. Students learn about acting, improvisation, and working together as an ensemble. There are sets, lights, costumes, and lines to memorize. We have chosen scripts that allow all students a chance to shine on stage. Tuition covers the class, four show tickets, and a souvenir T-shirt.
