in the beauful campus of Pepperdine University. Here we

can worship, pray, fellowship, hear great messages, and

Wait for it Dine. :] Yep. I said it. Dine. So the next three

days be ready for an awesome experience either meeng

God for the rst me, or reconnecng with our Father

whom you have missed so much of! Get ready to stand in

awe of what He has done, is doing, and will do in your life

and the lives of those around you. There are extra note pag-

es in the back in case you run out. ;D Now Ill introduce

GladOS, she will be your guide to this booklet and one of

your guides to the retreat. Many of her small pieces of ad-

vice and encouragement will be readable throughout this

booklet. Sorry, but she refers to this Retreat as an

Enrichment Center Acvity. I dont know why

Hello. This Weightless Companion Booklet will accom-

pany you though this Activity. Symptoms most commonly

produced by Enrichment Center Activities are faith,

perceiving God as your Father, and hallucinations.

That was a joke. Haha. Fat chance. About the halluci-

nations part. The Enrichment Center reminds you that

the Weightless Companion Booklet will never threaten

to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak. In the event

that the Weightless Companion Booklet does speak, we

urge you to listen to its advice. Basically, do not

lose this Weightless Companion Booklet, or you will

be incinerated. Likewise for your Bible and Identifi-

    cation

    27

Hey! So I guess you guys are o, huh? I know I had a great megeng to know my Father in heaven beer than I have before, and

hopefully, you now know God as the Lord of All and your personal Lord

AND Savior. You know a lot of mes, we only think of Jesus as our Sav-

ior, but the bible calls us to know Jesus as our Lord AND Savior. Not

one or the other, but both. It says in 2 Peter 3:

Grow in the grace andknowledge of our Lord and

Savior Jesus Christ to Him be the glory, both now and

to the day of eternity. (NASB)

So I encourage you to chase what maerschase aer Jesus.

And now it is that me again. Yep. The me that comes by eve-

ry single year in every single booklet. The me of thanksgiving. Literal-

ly. First and foremost is the man responsible for this whole retreat!

Hes a young adult, working, male, and hes single! Lets give it up

for JESUS! Yay! You thought I was going to say Bryan weren't you?

Hah, well we need to thank him too. Thank you, Bryan! Bryan, by the

way, is the other guy responsible for bringing this retreat to us. Now

we need to give a head nod to Dien To and round of applause for being

an awesome speaker! Yay! We are blessed to have you share with us

who God is. Next up Jerome and BOWEN: The Mind Controllers, or,

MCs. Yay! And we cannot forget the big guy singing and guitar-ing, Ken

Chang! Yay! And the other Worship Leaders, yay! Last but not least is

the customary We cannot possibly list everyone on this page of peo-

ple to thank. So we will simply thank you all! Thank you!

And on the o-chance, you read through this whole thing, this

retreat is now over and back to the front lines we go as missionaries to

wherever we are called. Come join us at ACT4Christ Friday Fellowship!

Friday nights at 7:30 in the Chinese Chrisan Church of Thousand OaksSanctuary! Now a nal word from GladOS.

While it has been a faithful companion, your

companion booklet cannot accompany you through the

rest of your life. If it could talkand the Enrich-

ment Center takes this opportunity to remind you that

it cannotit would tell you to go on without it be-

cause it would rather die in a fire than become a

burden to you. Congratulations. The test is now over.

Thank you for participating in this ACT4Christ book-

    let-aided enrichment activity. Goodbye.

Meet the SpeakerHello, its me again. That GladOS is an interesng charac-

ter is she not? You can ignore her if you want. Anyway, I bet

youre curious about who the speaker at this retreat is. He is a

handsome gentleman by the name of Dien To. Yep, just like

head nod. Here is his bio as wrien by him:

    25

    :Notes:

    20They speak against you with malicious intent;

your enemies take your name in vain!21Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD?

    And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?22I hate them with complete hatred;

    I count them my enemies.

23Search me, O God, and know my heart!

Try me and know my thoughts!24And see if there be any grievous way in me,

and lead me in the way everlasting!

This Psalm is broken up into four stanzas, which reveal four simple yet

    significant truths:

    God knows me (verses 1-6)

Even before a word is on my tongue, he knows it a ltogether.

We can put on our Sundays best for church and go through the

routine, but God sees our heart.

God is with me (verses 7-12)

We may turn our backs on God, but He doesnt go away. Like

the prodigal son, many of us have chosen the world over God

even after accepting Him into our lives. But notice that when theson came to his senses and chose to go home, the father ran to

him with open arms (Luke 15:11-32).

    God made me (verses 13-16)

He is the creator of the universe, and He made you and I. He is somuch bigger than the things we allow to consume our anxious

minds. He knows us. He loves us. And He is with us.

Gods love for me should result in an unmet devotion (verses 17-24)

Above everything else, above every dream, above every goal.

God knows you intimately. Better than you know yourself even. How you

respond to Him will determine what you live for during your time on

earth. It will also determine where you will one day spend eternity.

Take a look at the devotions from the past two days and revisit the things

you wrote down. Then take some time to reflect on Psalm 139.

Weve been meditating on being still before God and examining what the

true influences in our lives are. Take an honest look at your life and ask

yourself, what is God saying through all of this. But dont stop there.

Also ask yourself, what shall I do with all of this?

Ask God to search your heart. Ask Him to point out the noise and any

influences in your life that are not of Him. Allow Him to lead you in the

    way everlasting.

The Creator of the Universe Knows and Loves YouPsalm 139Search Me, O God, and Know My HeartTo the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

1O LORD, you have searched me and known me!

2You know when I sit down and when I rise up;you discern my thoughts from afar.

3You search out my path and my lying downand are acquainted with all my ways.

4Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.

5You hem me in, behind and before,

    and lay your hand upon me.6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

it is high; I cannot attain it.

7Where shall I go from your Spirit?Or where shall I flee from your presence?

8If I ascend to heaven, you are there!

If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!9If I take the wings of the morning

and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10even there your hand shall lead me,

and your right hand shall hold me. 11If I say, "Surely the darkness shall cover me,

    and the light about me be night,"12even the darkness is not dark to you;

the night is bright as the day,

for darkness is as light with you.

13For you formed my inward parts;you knitted me together in my mothers womb.

14I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your

    works;

my soul knows it very well.

15My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret,

intricately woven in the depths of the earth.16Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one

    of them,

the days that were formed for me,

when as yet there was none of them.

17How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!How vast is the sum of them!

18If I would count them, they are more than the sand.

I awake, and I am still with you.19Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God!

O men of blood, depart from me!

RootedPsalm 1The Way of the Righteous and the Wicked1Blessed is the man

whowalks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands inthe way of sinners,

    nor sits in the seat of scoers;

2but his delight is in the law of the LORD,

and on his law he meditates day and night.

3He is likea tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its sea-

son,and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he pros pers.

4The wicked are not so, but a re like cha that the wind drives away.

5Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congre-

    gaon of the righteous;

6for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will

    perish.

When we have trouble cung through the noise of this world, its

easy to become complacent. All of a sudden everything becomes a rou-

ne and we nd ourselves simply going through the moons of life.

Psalm 1 describes and contrasts two people: one who is rooted in Gods

word, and another who searches for wisdom in the world. Where do you

    nd yourself today?

In verse 3 we see that those who delight themselves in the law of Lord

    are:

    planted rmly rooted.

Roots dont just sit above the ground. They are rmly intertwined

with the soil. Separang them is no easy chore.

by streams of water, connually fed and nourished by a pure

    source.

This is more than a one-me watering.

yields its fruit acvely producing that which is good.

As a result of being planted by a connually pure source, there is

evidence of growth that blesses others.

does not wither. able to endure tough mes.

Not under its own doing, but as a result of where it is planted.

A tree can also be planted beside impure sources. However this tree is

like cha that the wind drives away (verse 4). What are the things in

life that you allow to inuence you? Where have you chosen to root

yourself? Quite oen we dont realize what the true inuences in our

lives unl we pause to reect on them.

    Cung Through the NoisePsalm 46

God Is Our FortressTo the choirmaster. Of the Sons of Korah. According to Alamoth. A Song.

1God is our refuge and strength,

a very present help in trouble.

2Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way,

though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea,

3though its waters roar and foam,

though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah4There is

a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitaon of

the Most High.5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help

her when morning dawns.6The naons rage, the kingdoms toer; he uers his

voice, the earth melts.7 The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our

fortress. Selah8Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolaons on the

earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; hebreaks the bow and

shaers the spear; he burns the chariots with re.10 "Be sll, and know that I

am God. I will be exalted among the naons, I will be exalted in the earth!"11The

LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. SelahWe live in a noisy world. Whether it is school or work, there are so many

things that compete for our aenon. Do you ever nd your head spin-

ning with your list of to-dos before the morning is even halfway over? I

    know I do.

In verse 10 we are reminded that God will be exalted among the na-

ons. The things of this world that we hold onto so ghtly will one day

yield to the coming of Gods glorious kingdom. But the reality of the

awesome peace and hope we have in this is usually drowned out by thenoise of this world.

What are the things in your life that are screaming loudly for you aen-

    on right now?

Stop reading for a bit and write them down.

When was the last me you were silent before God? Take some me

tonight to be sll before Him. Make this something you pracce daily.

God is our refuge and strength. He is present. Be sll and know that He

    is God.
