SUMMER 2015 Volume 2, Issue 2 Discover our diverse cultural celebrations July 11 to Sept. 27, 2015 In June we were honored to host Walking With Our Sisters, a moving memorial to the over 1,300 missing and murdered Aboriginal women. In three weeks, the sacred bundle was viewed by over 2,400 visitors. Our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed so generously of their hearts and their time! In July, the MAG will present Kids Celebrate! - an opportunity to explore celebrations around the world and through the seasons. The exhibition encourages children and their families to think about their own celebrations and learn about a variety of different traditions. I have been involved with the museum for several years now, and I am very excited by way that the Museum is growing and changing and getting more engaged in the community. On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank the Department of Canadian Heritage Museums Assistance Program for their support of our collections re-organization project, as well as Kids Celebrate! I would also like to gratefully acknowledge the support of the Red Deer Kinsmen for their support to purchase new membership management software. Red Deer Rotary has generously sponsored one year of Art in the AM, our new social and art program that is designed for adults who are suffering from memory loss, and their caregivers.
