This summer you can discover a variety of 7-week camps, specialty camps, and half-day camps to create your child’s best summer ever. If you’re looking for fitness, nutrition and fun, try our Jump Start JC Camp that is held at Memorial Park Community Center. Nature will take you on incredible journeys to learn about reptiles, Native American culture, wildlife, survival skills, geology, and animal adaptations. Experience your creative side during the Art Camps held at Princeton Art Center and explore the world of sports during sports camps. Summer camps will be More Fun Than Ever this year!

Registration: Registration opens April 1. You can register at the following locations: Carver Recreation Center, Memorial Park Community Center, and Winged Deer Park. Online registration begins April 1 at www.myjcparks.org

Each registrant must complete a Registration Form and all fees must be paid in full before acceptance into camp. A copy of your child’s Birth Certificate must accompany each registration form for walk-in registrations. Refunds will not be issued after camp begins, unless it is due to a medical reason. Medical refunds must be accompanied by a doctor’s recommendation.

7-Weeks of Fun Camp ̴ June 6 - July 22 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Open to Ages: 6-12

Early drop-off (7:30 a.m.) Late pick-up (5:15 p.m.) - $20 extra per week

Mini Jump Start Preschool Summer Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert Street (423) 434-6224 Date: June 7-30 Time: Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays 9 a.m.-1 pm. 7:30 a.m. (Optional Early Drop Off) Ages: 3-5 years old (must be 3 before the first day of camp) Cost: $100/Summer, $10/wk (Optional Early Drop Off) Maximum: 15 kids Minimum (to hold camp): 5 kids Description: Jump into summer with exciting games, arts and crafts, swim lessons, and basic sports. Children will get wet and messy so dress them in appropriate clothing. This camp is perfect for kids already in preschool and a great introduction for those entering preschool or starting kindergarten. They will LOVE socializing with kids their own age. Lunch will be provided. Child MUST be potty trained.

Jump Start JC Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert Street (423) 434-5722 Camp Fee: $200 per camper Description: Looking for something exciting for your child to do this summer? Join us for JUMP START JC! Campers will have opportunities to learn about fitness, nutrition, sports, arts and crafts, nature, educational programs, enjoy guest speakers, fields trips, and make lasting friendships. Structured programs in a FUN atmosphere fosters LEARNING FUN! Camp is limited to 80 participants Carver Recreation Camp Location: Carver Recreation Center, 322 W. Watauga Ave. (423) 461-8830 Camp Fee: $120 per camper Description: Campers will experience field trips, weekly art activities, team building, and physical fitness activities. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day. Campers will receive a camp T-shirt. Camp is limited to 100 participants.

Team USA Sports Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert Street (423) 434-5722 Date: June 20 - 24 Time: 9 am - 4 pm Ages: 7-12 Fee: $50/per camper (Early drop off 7:30 am and Late pick-up 5:15 pm) - $20 The ETSU Center of Excellence for Sport Science and Coach Education, operators of the US Olympic Training Site at ETSU will be hosting a four-day sports camp leading up to this year’s Olympic Day. The camp will feature fundamental motor proficiency instruction as well as introduction to a variety of sports that will be featured in Rio this summer! Campers will be appropriately grouped with skilled and qualified instructors. All campers will receive a T-shirt for their participation. Lunch will be provided. Max Campers: 50

Nature Camps … June 6 - July 22 9am - 4 pm

Native American Nature Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park, 4137 Bristol Highway (423) 283—5821 Date: June 6-10 Ages: 7-12 Cost: $75 Description: With the knowledge of Native American speakers and others, listen as past connections to Mother Earth are defined. Learn how a Native American child of the same age would have spent their days in the not so distant past. What tools would have been used to hunt, fish, prepare meals, and play games? Discover how native plants in our areas were used and stored. Our field trips will take us to Legion Street Pool on Tuesday and The Laurels to find salamanders and crayfish on Thursday. Junior Naturalists Unite Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park, 4137 Bristol Highway (423) 283-5821 Date: June 13-17 Ages: 7-12 Cost $75 Description: Explore how we-are-all-connected to the natural world. Guest speakers will cover topics such as ecosystems, food webs, animal adaptations, the incredible water cycle, tree identification, and more. Campers will take a trip to Legion Street Pool on Tuesday and Rock Creek Pool on Thursday for getting wet and critter collecting.

Wilderness Survival Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park, 4137 Bristol Highway (423) 283-5821 Date: June 20-24 Ages: 7-12 Cost: $75 Description: Attitude is everything when it comes to survival! Campers will learn skills such as fire starting techniques, shelter building, consideration of safe food and water preparation, how to read a map, and more. As campers hike, they will study interesting plants and animals found on trails as they relate to survival. Campers will take a dip in Legion Street Pool on Tuesdaysand do some sleuthing on the shores of Lake Watauga on Thursday.

Habitat Explorers Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park, 4137 Bristol Highway (423) 283-5821 Date: June 27 - July 1 Ages: 7-12 Cost: $75 Description: Discover the creatures that call some of our city park’s home. Campers will embrace learning as they wind through forests and explore wetlands and meadows in search of wildlife. Get up close and personal with snakes, turtles, frogs, toads, salaman-ders, insects, and spiders and pay careful attention to where they live. Tuesday campers will head off to Legion Street Pool and on Thursday take a trip to Buffalo Mountain Park for hiking and creek crawling.

Nature Camps continued ̴ June 6-July 22 - 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Rock Steady Geology Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park, 4137 Bristol Highway (423) 283-5821 Date: July 11-15 Ages: 7–12 Cost: $75 (plus an extra fee for Appalachian Cavern Field Trip) Description: Rocks rock! Campers will learn why rocks and minerals are uniquely important parts of our everyday lives, past and present. Our local geographic area will be discussed with staff and guest speakers as we learn about sinkholes, karst, gems, rock types, and some cave critters. Campers will spend time at Legion Street Pool, visit Jacob’s Nature Park at Sinking Creek on Tuesday, and take a trip to the Appalachian Caverns on Thursday.

Wildlife Detectives Location: Robert Young Cabin, Winged Deer Park, 4137 Bristol Highway (423) 283-5821 Date: July 18-22 Cost: $75 Description: Campers will discover the adaptations of any animals that we find in our travels that allow them to find food and not become food. Campers will study skulls and fossils of native species. With animal tracking, sounds, homes, food, scat, and more, campers will begin to learn to identify animals from the signs they leave behind. As the week continues, campers will be promoting the “Leave No Trace” principles. It’ll be a dip at Legion Street Pool on Tuesday and the Erwin Fish Hatchery and Rock Creek cement pond on Thursday.

Half Day Sports Camps ̴ June 6 - July 29 No Early Drop Off or Late Pick-Up - Maximum 30 Participants per Camp

Football Camp Location: Kermit Tipton Stadium Date: June 6-10 Time: 9 am - Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $40/week Learn the fundamentals and improve your game. Campers will work on agility, speed, passing and catching. Soccer Camp Location: Civitan Park Date: June 13-17 Time: 9 am - Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $40/week Improve your soccer skills! Work on footwork, ability, passing, kicking, and scoring. Baseball/Softball Camp Location: Keystone Park Date: June 27-July 1 Time: 9 am - Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $40/week Come on hit one out of the park! Think you’ve got the best throw? Fast at running bases? Join us and show off your skills, learn the proper techniques of the game, work on your passing, throwing, and stance at the plate. Golf Camp Location: Pine Oaks Golf Course Date: July 5-8 Time: 9 am - Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $40/week Show us your best swing and we’ll help you with the steps to success. Learn how to hold the club, proper stance, putting techniques, and driving. Lacrosse Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center Date: July 11-15 Time: 9 am - Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $40/week Want to learn how to play? You’ve come to the right place! Learn how to hold the stick, how to cra-dle, passing, catch, how to move the ball, defense, and scoring. Basketball Camp Location: Memorial Park Community Center Date: July 25-29 Time: 9 am - Noon Ages: 6-12 Cost: $40/week Got game? Join us and show us your skills. Learn fundamentals, passing, dribbling, shooting, and enjoy some challenge games.

Walk-in registrations will be accepted at the following locations Monday-Friday: Carver Recreation (423) 461-8830 (10am-6pm), Memorial Park Community Center (423) 434-5749 (7am-9pm), Princeton Arts Center (423) 283-5800 (8am-5pm), and Winged Deer Park (423)283-5815 (8am-5pm). Please check all the camps below that you will be registering your child for. If you will need Early Drop-Off and Late Pick-up for your child make sure to check all the boxes that apply. There will be no Early Drop-off/Late Pick-up for “Half Day Camps”. For camp hours and details please refer directly to the camp description(s) shown on previous pages. All camps run Monday through Friday with the exception of week July 4.

Camp Registration Information: Please check all the camps that you will be signing your child up for. Early Drop-off begins at 7:30 a.m. and Late Pick-up ends at 5:15 p.m. Please indicate if you will need the Early Drop-off/Late Pick-up.
