Summer Assignment 2016 Spanish Foundation Due date: First week of class (August 22‐26, 2016) Required Summer Assignments There is summer assignment for Spanish Foundation. All students will be expected to complete it and have it with them the first week of class. You must do all of the assignments. It will be graded, below there is a list of the things you must do, study, and know all of the material when you return to school in August. General directions: Make flashcards (note cards work best) for the vocabulary list on the next page. Write the Spanish on one side of the card and the English meaning on the other side. (You have to know the meanings of the words, and how to spell them.)Please focus on the alphabet, greetings, goodbyes, days of the week, and months of the year, seasons, weather, numbers, and subject pronouns!! There are 4 ways to say "you" in Spanish, but... they can NOT be used interchangeably:  1.‐ Tú  is singular ‐ informal and is used when speaking to a friend, a family member or someone your age or younger. 2.‐  Usted is singular ‐ formal and is used when you are speaking to a stranger, someone older or someone that deserves respect. 3.‐  Vosotros is plural ‐ informal and used in Spain. It is used when speaking to friends, family members or people your age or younger. 4.‐Ustedes is plural ‐ formal and informal and is used when speaking to a group of people, especially when speaking to your elders.
