MY QUESTIONS AND VARIABLES! Does reading out loud or reading silently help

you summarize in fewer words and get to the main point? So when teachers want short summarize how should we read and how should we read when they want us to write in great detail?

My manipulated variable is how you read. My responding variable is how many words

you write. My controlled variables are what the story is

and not telling them how many words that they can write.

PROCEDURES!

1. I got 12 kids too read a story. 6 of them read out loud while the other 6 read silently.

2. Then I asked them to write a summary of how ever many words that they wanted.

3. Then I counted all the words and found the average amount of words for reading out loud and reading silently.

4. Then analyze my data to see when you read out loud or silently then do you write shorter summery or you write in details.

HYPOTHESIS!

IN CONCLUSION!

So after all of my research I found that when you read silently you have shorter and stronger summaries then if you read out loud. Reading out loud helps you write in detail so when you want to write in detail read out loud but if you want to summaries a passage then you should read silently.

RECOMMENDATIONS!

Any teacher can use this in their class if they are working on either summering or writing in detail.
