What to do:

1. Read the text first

2. Read each question carefully and think about the key words in the question

3. Look at how many marks the question carries. This will tell you how many points you need to make and whether you need to include evidence from the text.

· 1 mark = a word, phrase or single, quick sentence

· happy

· Relieved but still worried

· Nobody knows where the myth started

· 2 marks = 2 examples from the text OR an answer with exact evidence from the text

· Relieved, worried

· She is excited because she claps her hands and jumps on the spot

· He is nervous because his hands are sweating.

· 3 marks = 2 points with evidence for both

· The whale is mysterious because it appears from nowhere and makes a sound that isn’t easily described - the text says “mmwahhhh” to describe the sound.

· The whale is made to seem mysterious by being described as a ‘strange, black shape’ and by the way it suddenly appears from nowhere.

4. Find the answer or clues in the text
