Intro

My rep rt is a b t the world famous car brand Su baru. Su baru isthe automo bile manufacturing division of the Ja panesetrans portation industry called FHI (Fuji Heavy Industries).

Subaru cars are well known for its boxer engine layout and theiruse of all wheel drive. Su baru is the Ja panese name for thePleiades stars. That s why the logo of Su baru consist the six stars.The six stars also stand for the six com panies that created FHI.

The main to pic where I want to talk a bout is the Im preza series of Subaru. I ve chosen the Im preza series because I always wantedto own this car since I was young. Currently my cousin owns a

2006 Tur bocharged Im preza W RX . I ve been is his cars a fewtimes and I immediately felt in love with this car because of itspower and looks.

Subaru Impreza

The Su baru Im preza was first introduced in 1993. The biggest competitor that time was the Mitsu bishi Lancer.

The Su baru Im preza was offered with front wheel drive or all

wheel drive. This was a feature only Su baru had that time. Youcould also choose the four-door sedan or the five-door stationwagon. In 1995 also a two-door cou pe was introduced to theworld.

At that time the Im prezas where equi pp ed with several engineslike.

There were also 4 s peed automatic Transmission and a 5 s peedmanual transmission.

In 1994 Su baru introduces STI (Su baru Technica International).The STI is an u pgrade for the W RX . Upgrades are for the engine,transmission and sus pensions to make the W RX faster. This madethe W RX very popular among the street racers and the rallyracers. The S pecial edition W RX STI had a 276 h p that made thiscar go 180km/h and had a 0-100km/h in 5.9 seconds.

There were a total of 8 new Im prezas models launched andmanufactured in 1993 till 2000.

Second generation Imprezas

Subaru introduced the new im prezas to the world in 2001. Theiraim was to make the Im preza larger, safer, stiffer, more refinedand more res ponsive. They scra pp ed the cou pe model off theimpreza series. These im prezas had engines like.

1.5 Litre 125h p 2.0 Litre 125h p 2.5 Litre 165h p 2.5 Litre 173h p 2.0 Litre Tur bo-charged 227h p 2.5 Litre Tur bo-charged 300h p

The new im prezas had a 4s peed automatic, 5s peed manual or6speed manual transmission. In 2001 till 2007 there has been

launched and manufactured 4 new models of the im peza.

Th ird Generation Imprezas

2007 they officially showed the world the new generation Im prezaWRX at the New York Auto Show. Peo ple now see this car as a

performance car. This time they had a 4door sedan and a 5doorhatch back availa ble.

Subaru gave the W RX a total facelift. Many peo ple didn t like thisincluding me. As you can see in the picture below you can see thebig difference between the old 2001-2007 Im preza and newerImpreza.

The new version of Im preza had all kind of new technology built inthem. For instance: Electronic stavility control, traction control,Engine start and many more.

Subaru also introduced a Diesel engine for the first time.Nicknamed Su baru EE, this was introduced in 2008 at the parismotor show. It had a 2.0 litre tur bodiesel engine of 150h p. Therewere two models the 2.0 TD and the 2.0 TD s port.

These Im prezas had 4s peed automatic, 5s peed automatic, 5s peedmanual and a 6s peed manual transmission.

Fourt h Generation Impreza

This year (2011) Su baru has launched another set Im prezas. Thiswas announced at the 2011 New York Auto Show. They said thecar would be the same size but being lighter. Also more fuel-efficient and im provements in engine and interior. They would usehigher quality materials in the interior. This time their Im prezalooked like a mix between the 2001-2007 and 2007-2010 models,as you can see below.
