The program is located in the Tulare County Office of Education at 2637 West Burrel Avenue, Visalia. LCFF & LCAP A few years ago, the state changed the way it funds schools. Strathmore receives additional funds to support students based on the state formula. As part of the requirements for this funding, we develop a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) which identifies how we will support and enrich our student learning and expe- riences. We have used these funds to provide training to our teachers, in- crease instructional time in the class rooms, add instructional aides and custodians, provide translators for parent events, purchase more library books, add computers (Chromebooks) for every student in grades 2-8 in their class, provide academic enrichment activities and after school activities (with busing), as well as other things. We are now moving into our third year of this plan. One of the key compo- nents of this plan is having parents, along with other stakeholders, be involved throughout the process. As we review what we have done and plan for the future, we want to encour- age you to be involved and provide input on what we can do to continue to improve your child’s education. You can do this by attending parent meet- ings (ELAC/DELAC, School Site Council, GATE/DAC, PTO) and other school events. Be sure to fill out the survey that will be coming home soon since we look at every response to help guide us in what we need to do. Each class had an opportunity to visit Santa and take a picture with him. Each student also received a wrapped book courtesy of the man in the red suit. Along with warmer temperatures, spring will bring two Family Night events to Strathmore Elementary. The first event will be a Family Literature Night which is schedule for Thursday, March 17 th from 5:00- 7:30 p.m. This family night will provide a fun evening while remind- ing everyone of the joys of reading. The second event is our Family Sci- ence/Math Night that is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, April 28 th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. This family night is certain to be an evening of inquiry, discovery, and fun with hands-on science and math experi- ments and activities! Mark these two dates on your calendar and plan to attend these family, fun-filled events. See you there! SPECIAL NEEDS Do you know a child with special needs? The elementary and middle schools PTO's and many community members graciously donated supplies and money to make each basket full of healthy food items. UNA VISITA ESPECIAL

El 16 de diciembre 2015 la Escuela

Primaria de Strathmore tuvo un visi-

tante especial-Papa Noé! Cada clase

tuvo la oportunidad de visitar a Papa

Noé y tomar una foto con él. Cada

estudiante recibió un libro envuelto

cortesía del hombre en el traje rojo. Fue

una sorpresa divertida para nuestros

estudiantes y una gran forma de co-

menzar la temporada de vacaciones. Un

agradecimiento especial a la organiza-

ción de padres y maestros y a todos los

que ayudaron a hacer esta visita sor-

presa un éxito.

ALIMENTOS NUTRITIVOS

Dietas ricas en frutas y verduras

REGISTRACIÓN KINDER

La Escuela Primaria de Strath-

more estará Registrando estudiantes

que entraran a la Escuela Pre-escolar,

Transición de Kínder y al Kínder. El

día de registro está fijado para el mar-

tes, 8 de marzo, 2016 entre las 12:30 a

las 3:30 de la tarde. Niños podrán ser

elegibles para la escuela Pre-escolar si

NUEVA LEY DE

VACUNACIÓN 2016 Bajo una nueva ley conocida como SB

277, empezando el 1 de enero de 2016,

mer evento es la Noche de Literatura

Familiar, que esta programada para el

jueves, 17 de marzo. Esta noche famil-

iar proveera diversion y recordando a la

El segundo evento es nuestra noche de

Ciencia/Matematicas Familiar que esta

programada para el jueves, 28 de abril.

Esta noche familiar es seguro de traer

brimiento y diversion con experimentos

LCFF & LCAP

Hace unos años, el estado ha

Strathmore recibe fondos

adicionales para apoyar a los

CESTAS DE ALIMENTOS

Wow! Casi el 75 canastas de alimentos fueron entregados a las familias necesitadas de SUESD en diciembre. La escuela primaria y secundaria del PTO y muchos miembros de la comunidad gentilmente donó suministros y dinero para que cada canasta llena de alimentos saludables. Este gran evento no se habría con-vertido en una realidad sin la ayuda de la clase de octavo grado, Club de Creadores, The United Way y ya nuestros voluntarios de la comunidad. Gracias a todos los que hicieron este evento un gran éxito!
