4. Conditions of Permit

The Inland Fisheries Service (IFS) may approve the sale of rainbow trout for stocking of ponds and

dams, subject to standard conditions.

A permit fee of $94.80, payable to the IFS, is to be paid before this application can be assessed.

Note that the IFS only allows authorised person to collect and distribute trout in Tasmania.

If your application is approved, you will need to engage an authorised person to transport the fish.

The IFS does not permit individuals to collect their own fish.

The trout may only be purchased from licensed fish farms in Tasmania.

Only triploid rainbow trout are permitted for stocking farm dams.

The trout may not be artificially fed.

The trout may only be taken from the stocked water by means of angling under the current

regulations and all anglers must be licensed, including the landowner.

The trout may only be taken during the open season, i.e. between the first Saturday in August and

the Sunday nearest 30 April.

Your permit allows you to only stock the single water nominated on this application.

Upon receiving the fish the fish farm supplying the fish will sign your letter of approval with numbers

and size of fish delivered. You must send this receipted letter back to Inland Fisheries Service for any

further stocking application to be considered.
