Stepping Into Internship Program - Position Description The Australian Network on Disability’s Stepping Into program is a paid internship scheme that matches talented university students with disability with roles in leading Australian businesses. Position Title Department of Social Services, Federal - NDIS Program Transition Branch Project Officer Intern Location Canberra Position Duration Commencement Date: June 2019 – specific date negotiable Placements are for a minimum of 152 hours. These hours can be worked consecutively over four weeks or can be worked flexibly across a semester concurrent with studies, as negotiated with your supervisor. Position Overview The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Program Transition Branch in the Department of Socual Services is responsible for helping to ensure the Australian Government delivers a robust NDIS that adequately supports key target groups, including people transitioning from Commonwealth programs; and to ensure services and supports outside the NDIS appropriately support target groups. The Branch works closely with the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA), as well as peak bodies and service providers to improve the pathway to the NDIS for people with disability, and also contributes to supporting those clients not eligible for the NDIS. The Branch develops and provides expertise in mental health and early childhood early intervention areas and considers policy intersections between the NDIS and these broader mainstream systems. The position will entail developing data resources to support the policy work of the branch, and contributing to policy advice. Position Overview

Ideal Degree/Discipline

Arts, Social Sciences or equivalent (Psychology, Sociology, Philosophy, Politics, History, Communications, Business Administration, Human Rights)

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree
