Young Amelia
In 1897 Amelia Earhart was born in Kansas.
Amelia loved to play in her yard and loved to learn.
She helped as a nurse in a hospital in World War I.
She met pilots from World War I and she loved airplanes.
Amelia’s first flight!
In 1920 the air show was in California and Amelia went to it. She flew in an airplane for the first time.
She loved to fly.
Her Pilot License
Amelia got her pilot’s license in1921. She was the first lady passenger to
fly across the Atlantic Ocean .
Where she flew & how she flew
1928 – flew across the United States and back
1932 –flew across the Atlantic Ocean 1935- flew across the Pacific Ocean Amelia made all these flights alone.

Amelia’s mysterious death
Amelia and Fred Noonan flew most of the way around the world in 1937. They disappeared over the Pacific Ocean. They were never found.
