Stations October 21st- October 25th
Project OverviewThe 2nd graders are helping the United Way
campaign by raising awareness in our school community and in Columbus.
This week, students will focus on citizenship and community leaders. Students will be learning about being leaders by encouraging others to participate in the campaign. Second graders will be taking a field trip to Salin Bank, City Hall and the Police Department to learn more about leaders in our community.

Writing “Making a Difference”

1. Monday and Tuesday: Continue working on your Letter to the Editor, Public Service Announcement or flyer for the United Way campaign. Make sure to use complete sentences, capital letters and your best spelling. Begin typing the final draft on your chrome book after you have edited your work.
2. Wednesday: Field Trip3. Thursday: Continue working on your final draft of your
writing.4. Friday: Complete your flyer, Letter to the Editor and
Public Service Announcement. Be ready to share it with the class. We will be choosing the best writing to share on the radio and the newspaper. Flyers will be hung around our school encouraging everyone to participate in the United Way campaign.
Standards 2.W.1 Write an opinion piece in which they introduce a topic, state an opinion, supply reasons to support opinion and provide a concluding statement.

1. Choose a library book or a book of choice that you have not read.
2. Be sure you picked a book that you can read alone.3. Silently read.4. After you finish your book, write the name of the book
and information on the SSR/AR form to turn in for a grade.
5. When you finish the sheet, turn it in to the Turn in File.
