  • Wildlife Action Plans for All 56 States & Territories

  • LCCs & SWAPsPrinciple 1 For each landscape, develop a list of species that compiles and integrates the list of species in greatest conservation need identified by State Wildlife Action Plans, FWS trust species, and other priority plans.

  • LCCs & SWAPsPrinciple 2 For each landscape, develop a database that classifies state species in greatest conservation need, FWS trust species and other important species by preferred habitat to identify a set of focal species that represent groups (plants and animals) that can be used in strategic habitat conservation.

  • LCCs & SWAPsPrinciple 3 For each landscape, use a common mapping system to develop maps and other geospatial products using the existing framework of priority habitats and landscapes identified in State Wildlife Action Plans.

  • LCCs & SWAPsPrinciple 4 Support and guide the development of consistent habitat mapping across all landscapes using current satellite and other remote sensing imagery to support the development of models that relate current population objectives of priority species to existing and future habitat.

  • LCCs & SWAPsPrinciple 5 Develop projections of future climate conditions and response models to forecast how the habitats will change under varying climate scenarios and other stressors.

  • LCCs & SWAPsPrinciple 6 Support strategic habitat conservation planning that uses conservation actions based on models that relate these actions to population objectives for priority species.

  • LCCs & SWAPsPrinciple 7 Use processes and organizational structures developed as part of State Wildlife Action Plans to guide development and implementation of LCCs.

  • LCCs & SWAPsPrinciple 8 Develop and implement multi-agency (federal & state) monitoring plans to inform adaptive management.
