Administration
Prior to Testing
You will receive the Directions for Administration the day prior to testing as the DFA is secure because it contains test questions that are dictated to students
Familiarize yourself with the script
Be sure you have an adequate supply of required materials (ex. Tests, markers, ruler for gr. 1 & 2, No. 2 pencils, scrap paper if using for math etc.)
Administration During TestingRead the script in bold type verbatim to studentsIf necessary, you may supplement the directions with your own explanations, as long as you don’t give help on a specific questionDirections say to pause about 10 seconds between questions, but that will be totally up to the teacher and how the students are progressingIf you make a mistake during directions or reading the question, stop and say, “No, that is wrong. Listen again.” You and your proctor if you have one, can check to make sure students are answering in the proper areaStudents can be told to erase stray marks or to be sure to choose only one answer
