Building Relationships in Christ
Now and Forever
FREE TO BE
(I used this as a conclusion to a sermon awhile back. It really stuck me
and wanted to give it more traction by sending to all of you. As we re-
member our land of freedom and nation of opportunity, you are also
Free To Be a Disciple of Jesus.)
“I’m part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have stepped over the line. I am
one of the “baptized.” I’m a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won’t look back, let up, slow
down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my fu-
ture is secure.
I’m finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth
knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed
goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or
popularity.
I don’t have to be right, first, tops, recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I
now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor
by power. My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my
way rough, my companions few, my Guide reliable, my mission clear.
I cannot be bought, deluded, or delayed.
I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary,
negotiate at the table of the enemy, or meander in the maze of mediocrity.
I won’t give up, shut up, let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, paid
up, preached up for the cause of Christ.
I am a disciple of Jesus. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all
know, and work till He stops me.
And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me-my
banner will be clear!”

JULY MONTHLY MISSION OFFERING One of the exciting things about the Lord’s mission is that
at times there are incredible and amazing challenges to be
taken. This month we are gathering our special mission
gifts and prayers for a project that could have an impact on
the entire world. Our offering for July will be for the
movie, “The Lamb to Life.” It is a movie about our Savior,
the Lamb of God, inter mixed with a fictional story of a
young family. The movie will be distributed in almost a
dozen languages. We will gather our Mission Offering on
July 15 and 16.
“The Lamb to Life” In a world where division, hatred, suf-
fering, fear and uncertainty are ever
increasing, people are crying out for
the Truth!
The Absolute Truth is only found in Je-
sus Christ.
But the question is: How do you present this Truth to the world?
The LAMB motion picture is a simple, yet powerful
parable about God's heart for people. The story will
touch the hearts of adults and children alike, in
every nation and culture on earth. It is a film about
the power of God's love to renew, reconcile, and
resurrect.
It is a film for SUCH A TIME AS THIS.
The Story
Living at the time of Christ, a young Israeli family
must deal with the tragic loss of their eldest son. Af-
ter the death of his 13-year-old brother, young Joel
becomes an orphan in his own home when his fa-
ther renounces God and abandons his family.
Parallel to the lives of the family, the story of Jesus
Christ unfolds and eventually intersects with theirs at
the cross...
Internationally acclaimed director, Regardt van
den Bergh (best selling Christian DVD series The Gos-
pel According to Matthew, and award winning fea-
ture film, Faith Like Potatoes) will direct The LAMB.
“This is not just a film for the Christians. Our target
audience is people who will never go to a church,
and who frown on anything bearing a 'Christian'
label, but, will go to watch a highly recommended
movie. The universal value displayed through the
message of Jesus Christ in The LAMB, will speak to
the hearts of every person, any age, any ethnicity,
in every nation on Earth.”

The Parish Nurse’s Notes: Dear St. Paul Family and Friends,
O give thanks to the Lord for He is good and His
mercy endures forever. Psalm 107:1
The Bible verse cited above was the theme for the re-
cent 25th Annual Concordia Conference for Parish Nurs-
ing and Congregational Health Ministries. This was a
great focus as we blended the 25th Anniversary for our
conference, the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation,
and the vocation of parish nursing. We really did have a
thankful and thank-filled week!
This letter will be a bit different, but it really stimulated
me thinking in many ways.
Throughout the past decade, several research studies
have considered the relationship between thankfulness
and health. It is not surprising that the results do show a
positive correlation. Just a few are casually noted below:
In 2009 study described a triad of increased thankful-
ness led to increased hope and increased hope led
to better physical health.
In 2009 a study reported that increased thankfulness
was positively correlated with better quality of
sleep. Better sleep is a positive factor in physical
and emotional wellness.
In 2006 a study reported that increased thankfulness
was positively correlated with positive psychosocial
health.
In 2012 a study showed a positive correlation between
increased thankfulness and increased empathy and
concern for others.
Finally, in 2006 a study reported that Viet Nam veter-
ans that found a positive correlation between in-
creased thankfulness and decreased effects of
PTSD.
If you wish more information about any of these or
other similar studies, please see me.
Back to the parish nurse conference…
Several keynote presentations addressed thankfulness
from various considerations related to spiritual health
and spiritual care. A comment by Rev. Dr. Patrick Ferry
(President of CUW) has really left me thinking. He
shared a statement made by the late Cardinal George of
Chicago. Cardinal George said he would die in bed (and
he did); the one who follows him will die in prison, and the
one who follows his predecessor will die as a martyr in the
public square.
I realize this health letter is different from the usual, but I
am concerned about the health of our nation, the health
of our churches, and the health of all people. Conversa-
tions, the news, and behavior show less thankfulness than
in past years. I pray for a return to a healthier (more
thankful) nation, church, and relationships. Be well…Be
thankful. Thanks be to God!
In the healing Christ, Marcia (Marcy) Schnorr,
EdD, RN-BC (CLM-Parish Nurse)
Parish Nurse Office Hours remain 8:00-11:30 am
Monday through Friday. There will be no office hours on
July 4, 6-7. Marcy will be escorting the senior trip to
Branson July 6-9. The parish nurse office will also be
closed July 31 because Marcy departs for the LPNI Study
tour to England. During her absence members of the
parish nurse team will be available to assist you. Contact
the church office for assistance if you have a need.
Drivers Needed: I frequently receive phone calls from
people needing rides to various appointments for health
care, worship services, or other church related Christian
fellowship opportunities. Although we do have some vol-
unteer drivers, more are needed. With more drivers, the
fewer times each driver would be contacted.

Senior Trip. If you wish to take some supplies home,
please stop in to the parish nurse office another time for
some cards and yarn.
Blood Pressures will not be taken on July 9th due to

St. Paul Lutheran School “Putting Faith in Education”
From the Principal’s Desk,
As you know, I have accepted a Divine Call to serve at Emmanuel-St. Michael Lutheran School in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
It has been a blessing to me and to my family to have been able to serve a caring and supportive congrega-tion. I know that the road ahead for St. Paul might have bumps along the way, but God has a plan for the school, just the same way that he has a plan for me and for everyone. It is during this time that we pray to Him, seeking His will and His guidance during what is a trying time.
It is my hope that the congregation and school will work together in love and cooperation and be glad and willing to greet all of the new teachers that will come to St. Paul to serve in this congregation. The religion series that we use with the children carries the theme “One in Christ!” and there is a wonderful truth in that statement. We are truly one in Christ Jesus, we all should work towards the common goal of sharing the love of God, building up one another in Him and teaching our children all about the wonders God has created for us.
God’s Blessings, Fredrick Wren

DONATIONS NEEDED FOR FRIEDA PICKREIGN FUND - The Frieda Pickreign Fund is in need of donations for the 2017-2018 school year. The Frieda Pickreign Fund is used to provide financial assistance to families who want a Christian education for their children, but do not have the financial means to do so on their own.
We would like to ask anyone with the means to consider donating to this fund. Each school year we have had to cut the amount of aid provided to all of these families who need the assistance. Please con-tact the school office if you would like to help.
