WORSHIP Mass Attendance on Sunday, December 24 This year, Christmas falls on a Monday. There will be Masses for Christmas Eve on Sunday, Dec 24, and on Christmas Day. Sunday, Dec 24, is also the 4th Sunday of Advent. Catholics are obligated to attend Mass for the 4th Sunday of Advent on either Saturday or Sunday morning and, also attend a Christmas Mass late Sunday or Monday morning. Attending one Mass on Sunday, Dec 24, does not satisfy our Catholic obli-gations for both the 4th Sunday of Advent and the Christmas Holyday. Christmas is a special time of the year and attending Mass to celebrate the birth of Jesus and receive our Lord and His Blessings is a very special gift from God.

To-date, we have received donations for 55% of the amount pledged. Thank You to all who are supporting the campaign. We are approaching the half way point in our 3 year Redemption Peri-od (July 2016 – June 2019). We still have a lot of work to do so PLEASE continue to pray for the success of our campaign and a ground-breaking shortly after June 2019. There is still a need for additional pledges to keep any debt we would assume to an afford-able level for our parish. At minimum, an additional $1,000,000 in pledges is needed to allow us to break ground and minimize our debt. The Campaign team is reaching out to new parishioners and area foundations and business for additional support. Any amount that you can contribute will help our parish get closer to our goal. The Building Committee is looking for ways to reduce the construction cost of the new church. Campaign information is available in the narthex including pledge cards. You can also con-tact our campaign team through Tom Condon at 281-382-8097. What a great event last Sunday to celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe. About a 125 horses, dancing and prancing, paraded onto our parish grounds about 2:30 p.m. escorting the court vying to be crowned as queen. Our parish grounds were packed with people enjoying tacos, enchiladas, fruit, hamburgers, and much more. There was live music and Fr. Chris even rode a horse with his boots and sombrero. Thank you to all who helped plan and volunteered at the event to setup, cook, serve, cleanup and more. Congratulations to Maggie Aguirre who was crowned as queen. Through various fundraising activities, Maggie raised $4,131.66. In total, the 4 young ladies in the Queens Court raised over $10,000 which will benefit the cam-paign for our new church.

Queen Maggie Aguirre

Special thanks to Rafael Rojas, Pablo Vasquez, and Isabel and Angel Ramirez for all their hard work to plan and organize all the activities. The complete financial results will be announced shortly.

Fr. Chris and the Choir

Starting in January, I plan to start spending time with our choirs to help members who would like to learn to read mu-sic, sing better, and feel more confident in leading the psalm after the first reading. Our choirs do a wonderful job in pre-paring and leading our congregation in song. I hope to help the choir continue to grow, add new members, and learn new music over time. All parishioners are welcome to par-ticipate, even if you don’t feel real confident in your voice. We’ll work together to help you feel comfortable and even learn to read music if needed. I am also looking for parish-ioners who can play the piano and are willing to accompany the choir at times. Please contact the parish office or catch me after Mass if you are interested.

God Bless. Fr. Chris

Advent Reconciliation Service Our parish Advent Reconciliation Service will be held on Wednesday, December 20. Fr. Chris and a number of visiting priests will be available for Confession starting at 6:30 p.m. To help you prepare for Confes-sion, Deacon Rafael will present a video and discus-sion on Tuesday, December 19, at 7:30 p.m. in the church in Spanish and on Wednesday, December 20, at 5:45 p.m. in the church in English. This presentation will help you begin the process of examining your con-science and preparing for Confession. What a great way to prepare for the coming of our Lord at Christ-mas. Reconciliation Services at Area Parishes - Prince of Peace, Houston - Tuesday, Dec 19, 6:30pm

Update your Parish Registration Info On-line St. Matthias is using a new computer system to manage your family's parish registration information as well as your donation history. The system is called "My Own Church". This system allows you to view and update your family registration infor-mation such as phone number, eMail address, and more. You can also view your donation history to the parish broken down by various collections such as the weekly offering, second col-lections, and capital campaign. You will only be able to view information for your family and no others. Likewise, no one else will have access to your information.

Instructions on how to create a secure account with your per-sonal ID and password are available in the narthex and the par-ish office titled "Parishioner Registration Information Web Ac-cess". The instructions also explain how to view and update your information. Getting started is a 2 step process. First, you will create an account. Second, within a day or two, you will receive an eMail with confirmation that the account is ready and your new password. Then, you can sign in and start to view and update your information.

For your parish, up-to-date information helps with mailings such as year-end statements, periodic eMails with info about parish activities, and contacting you when needed. Please take a few minutes to ensure your information is up to date.

Your help is much appreciated to keep them in good shape.
