Year 6 Geography Wednesday 6th May 2020
Over the next few weeks you should be able to complete your Geography work independently.
You can complete this work in your homework book.
If you have any questions, write them down and we can discuss them during our weekly phone call.
Last week, we explored the physical geographical features of Japan- it’s
mountains, forests, climate and volcanoes.
Think- what is a human geographical
feature?
A human feature is something that is built by humans and would not have existed in nature without humans. Features include anything from a house to a city, and all the related infrastructure such as roads, rail, canals etc.
Today, we will be comparing the capital cities of the UK and Japan- London and Tokyo. This is how long it would take to walk between the two cities. Flying takes
around 11 hours and 50 minutes.
On the next slides are images comparing London and Tokyo.
Look at the images- can you see any similarities or differences between the two cities?
There is an eight hour time difference between the UK and
Japan.

There are lots of similarities between London and Tokyo-they are both major global cities after all.
The main difference is the size of the two cities. Tokyo is massive! It is often regarded as the biggest city in the world.
I found this video about Tokyo really interesting and thought you would enjoy it too.
