ACT OF SPIRITUAL COMMUNION
My Jesus, I believe that You are in the
Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all
things, and I long for You in my soul. Since
I cannot now receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into my heart. As
though You have already come, I embrace
You and unite myself entirely to You; never permit me to
be separated from You.
August 1-2, 2020 / The Peter’s Pence Collection supports the Pope’s philanthropy by giving
the Holy Father the means to provide
emergency assistance to those in need
because of natural disaster, war, oppression
and disease.
OUR LADY OF DIVINE PROVIDENCE Patroness of the 2020 Catholic Charity Appeal Pray for Us
I would like to provide everyone with a brief update on our Catholic Charity Appeal. So far, we have raised
$56,595, which is 60% of our goal of $95,000. I’m always amazed at the generosity of our parish and am so
thankful to you. Please know that every dollar given to this wonderful cause goes to fund essential programs
and services across the Diocese, most notably the charitable works of the Church. Among them are
Community & Pastoral Services, Catholic Education, Spiritual Formation and Evangelization. If you have not
had a chance to participate, I encourage you to do so.
Thank you and God Bless.

The Pastor’s Corner
Countdowns can be fun and also nerve-racking. For one
person, it is something eagerly awaited, for another, it’s a
moment of anxiety. Let’s look at a few examples.
For example, in just 29 days, the Governor hopes to open
schools on August 31. We’ll see! There are 116 days to
Thanksgiving. And, there are 145 days to Christmas
morning!! Who knows how we will experience these
important dates in 2020. There are other dates to which a
Countdowns can be attached, but more on that at another time.
This weekend we read of Jesus feeding the 5000 and the
collection of 12 baskets full of leftovers. The Multiplication of
the Loaves and Fish is the only miracle recounted in all four
Gospels. Centuries of reflection on the event makes one think of
how Moses and the Hebrews were fed with manna in the
desert, and the events at the Last Supper. The Eucharist, the
center of our life in the Church, feeds us with the Real Presence
of the Risen One. We, too, recognize Him in the Breaking of
Bread. The Lord is always with us.
St. Paul’s great Letter to the Romans is the highpoint of this
theological thought. With the numerous insights Paul presents,
the Second Reading for Aug. 2nd is arguably his most powerful.
You likely heard it at a funeral. The intensity of the words
should fill all of us with hope, a virtue that is not needed in the
presence of God. As we continue on the journey even with all
our human frailty and sin, “What can separate us from the love of
God?” This is not to relieve us of our spiritual and temporal and
spiritual responsibilities to family, neighbor and self, but
No-Thing can separate us from God…except ourselves.
Ponder that as you swing in a hammock!
Enjoy August; I do as I give thanks for 41 years of
ministry!
~Monsignor Darcy
18th Sunday 19th Sunday
On August 1, 2010 Msgr. McCaffrey appointed
Jack Paiva as sacristan. This weekend we see how time has
quickly passed for this 12 year old, who is now an
important member of St. Margaret’s Parish. Like the
commissioning and acknowledgement last Sunday of Max
and Zach DiMuccio and Nick Mercurio, we rightfully
pause to acknowledge this milestone in Jack’s life. We
appreciate all that you do, Jack, and thank you for your
dedication and willingness to always to assist whenever
asked.
