From the Desk of Father Lalo Martínez Hey everybody! Welcome back to Ordinary Time that by the way has nothing “ordinary” about it per se; on the contrary, this very well could be an “extraordinary” time as we continue to walk with Jesus and following in His footsteps! Enjoy this time! Sharing some Parochial information / news: + Last Friday January 18 we had our Kick-off event for the Young Adults Ministry and thank God it went well. We had over 42 young adults, a very nice group! I am looking forward to walking with them as they continue to grow in faith and fellowship. I am committed to support them on their journey of faith and hope they might become more involved in the life of the Parish & offer them opportunities for learning, service and camaraderie. This is a bilingual group, open to people in their 20’s and early 30’s, single and married, parishioners and non-parishioners, so save the date for our next YAM gathering: Friday, February 15 at 7 pm in the Parish Hall. + I want to thank Tony & Chris Ybarra for helping us to refashion, clean and organize the three different closets we have inside the Church; they now look neat and clean; thank you so, so, so much! I ask all of you to please help us to keep our Church and grounds clean; this is God’s house and yours as well, so be mindful that we don’t have maintenance personnel but only faithful parishioners that dedicate their time and energy to keep the Parish as clean and as organized as possible. Thank you to all of them who work tirelessly and faithfully every week! + This coming Saturday, February 02 will be our Mariachi Night / Día de la Candelaria celebration! I think its going to be an exciting night! Please bring your Nino Jesus to be blessed that day; we will pray together and will bless them during the night. This free event is part of the events we are preparing to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of the Parish, so we will have 3 Mariachi bands for your enjoyment, free tamales, arroz, frijoles and we will be selling churros, buñuelos, pan dulce, margaritas, vampiros, piñas coladas & of course you will be able to buy your limited edition jarrito; first come, first served! I want to thank all the Padrinos & Madrinas for making this event possible! Your donations and your time and help is very much appreciated! Remember that your donation has a perk! As a token of my gratitude you will receive a limited edition jarrito the day of the event, there will be a special registration table for you; your jarrito will include a free shot of tequila!

Nice, huh? 😊 + On Monday, February 4 we will have the Kickoff event for Youth Ministry at 6:30 pm; this group is tailored for high school kids, ages 14 to 18, so parents please bring them for a fun night of fellowship! I want to hear from them and see what they would like to do, learn, etc. I’ll provide some soda and snacks & some other surprises I have in store for them. With God’s help I want to be able to provide a good & solid Youth Program for them, so they can keep learning about their faith, allow them to have some pastoral experiences by helping others and of course to experience a sense of support and community that’s really needed at that age. + On Thursday, February 7 we will have a Liturgy Team meeting to plan and prepare for Lent & Holy Week, the chairs of all liturgical ministries, that’s the person overseeing Art & Environment, Altar Servers, Eucharist Ministers, Lectors, Sacristans, Ushers & Music Ministry are all expected to attend so save the date; we will meet at 7 pm, right after Mass! Again, only the chair of the ministry (or their representative if they are not able to attend) should come, you will pass on the information to the members of your ministry. Thank you for all you do to enhance the liturgies at St. Leonard. Looking forward to seeing you on February 7. By the way, I am planning to have some extra meetings for all the members of each ministry on a separate date. I am also making arrangements for people from the Archdiocese to come to St. Leonard for some liturgical training sessions for all ministers and choirs, my plan is to offer two sessions, one in English and one in Spanish. I will keep you posted & I hope you will benefit from these sessions of formation as we never stop learning! From the Desk of Father Lalo Martínez ¡Hola a todos! Bienvenido de nuevo al Tiempo Ordinario que, por cierto, no tiene nada de "ordinario"; al contrario, ¡este muy bien podría ser un tiempo "extraordinario" mientras sigamos caminando con Jesús! ¡Disfrútalo! Les comparto alguna información / noticias parroquiales: + El viernes pasado 18 de Enero tuvimos nuestro primer evento para el Ministerio de Jóvenes Adultos y gracias a Dios todo salió muy bien. ¡Tuvimos más de 42 jóvenes! Estoy entusiasmado de caminar con ellos para que continúen creciendo en su fe y amistad. Me comprometo a apoyarlos y espero que puedan participar más en la vida de la parroquia y además ofrecerles oportunidades de aprendizaje, servicio y camaradería. Este es un grupo bilingüe, abierto a personas de entre 20 y hasta 33-34 años, solteros o casados, feligreses y no feligreses, así que reserven la fecha de nuestra próxima reunión del YAM, será el viernes 15 de febrero a las 7 pm en el Salón Parroquial. + Quiero agradecer a Tony y Chris Ybarra por ayudarnos a remodelar, limpiar y organizar los tres armarios diferentes que tenemos dentro de la Iglesia; ahora se ven limpios y ordenados; ¡muchas, muchas, muchas gracias! Les pido a todos que nos ayuden a mantener nuestra Iglesia y nuestros terrenos limpios; esta es la casa de Dios y la suya también, tengan en cuenta que no tenemos personal de mantenimiento, sino solo feligreses fieles que dedican su tiempo y energía para mantener la Parroquia lo más limpia y organizada posible. ¡Gracias a todos los que trabajan incansable y fielmente cada semana! + El próximo sábado, 2 de febrero será nuestra celebración de la Noche de Mariachi / Día de la Candelaria! ¡Confío en Dios será una noche padrísima! Por favor traigan a su niño Jesús para ser bendecido ese día; los bendeciremos durante el evento. Este evento es gratuito y es parte de los festejos que estamos organizando para celebrar el Jubileo de Diamante de la Parroquia. Tendremos 3 bandas de Mariachi, ¡tamales, arroz, frijoles gratis! Y venderemos churros, buñuelos, margaritas, vampiros, piñas coladas y, por supuesto, ¡los primeros que lleguen podrán comprar su jarrito de edición limitada! ¡Quiero agradecer a todos los Padrinos y Madrinas por hacer posible este evento! ¡Estoy bien agradecido con sus donaciones, su tiempo y ayuda! ¡Recuerden que su donación tiene un beneficio; como muestra de mi gratitud, recibirán un jarrito de

edición limitada, ¡habrá una mesa de registro para que lo recojas y tu jarrito incluirá un trago de tequila! ¿Qué tal eh? 😊 + El lunes 4 de febrero tendremos el evento de inicio para el Grupo Juvenil a las 6:30 pm; este grupo está orientado para chavos & chavas de prepa, de 14 a 18 años, ¡así que papas traigan a sus hijos a este evento! Me interesa mucho poder servirlos, saber de ellos, conocerlos, ver qué les gustaría hacer, aprender, etc. Voy a proporcionar refrescos, snacks y otras sorpresas por ahí. Con la ayuda de Dios, quiero ofrecerles un programa juvenil sólido y atractivo, para que puedan seguir aprendiendo sobre su fe y permitirles tener algunas experiencias pastorales ayudando a otros y, por supuesto, experimentar un ambiente amistoso y saludable que es tan necesario en esa edad. + El jueves 7 de febrero tendremos una reunión del Equipo de Liturgia para planificar y preparar la Cuaresma y la Semana Santa, así que los coordinadores de todos los ministerios litúrgicos – Ambientación, Monaguillos, Ministros de la Eucaristía, Lectores, Sacristanes, Ujieres y Música – tiene que asistir, así que separen la fecha; nos reuniremos a las 7 pm, justo después de la Misa. Nuevamente, solo los coordinadores (o su representante, si no pueden asistir) debe venir, ellos pasaran la información a los miembros de su ministerio. Gracias por todo lo que hace para mejorar las liturgias en St. Leonard; ¡espero verlos el 7 de febrero! Por cierto, estoy planeando tener reuniones con todos los miembros de cada ministerio por separado. También estoy haciendo arreglos para que gente de la Arquidiócesis vengan a St. Leonard y ofrezca sesiones de capacitación litúrgica para todos los ministros y coros, mi plan es ofrecer dos sesiones, una en inglés y otra en español.
