In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, He filled the earth with every kind of living creature; tame and wild animals, birds of the air, crawling things, and fish in the sea. Then God made man in His image and likeness. God formed the man out of the dust of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. Of all of God’s creation, only man is created in God’s image and likeness. Man is the only part of creation that God fills with the breath of life. In our uniqueness, God gave us the ability to reason, and a role of dominion as stewards over all of the rest of creation. The relationship between God and man is unique. We can see this in the biblical story of God with Adam and Eve in the garden. God wants to spend time with us. We belong to Him and we are loved by Him. But in disobeying God and falling into sin, Adam and Eve, who were created with original grace, were separated from God, and consequently all of us today are born with the stain of their original sin. In the fullness of time, God’s plan to restore our relationship with Him has been ongoing. When God called Abraham to be the father of a new nation uniquely God’s own, the sign of belonging to God was circumcision. The practice of circumcision in the Jewish community even included Jesus after his birth. When Jesus began his ministry, he approached John the Baptist at the Jordan River. John was baptizing with a baptism of repentance, meaning a turning away from a life of sin. Jesus, who was sinless, modeled for us the importance and necessity of baptism as people of God. In his baptism, Jesus cleansed the baptismal waters, so that we who have been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit have been cleansed of our sin and restored in friendship with God. We are no longer separated from Him. We belong to Him once again. Baptism is the greatest gift one can receive. The effect of baptism on us and on our relationship with God is beyond compare. It fills us with grace and the Holy Spirit, and makes us partakers in the kingdom. We are called to live our baptism by sharing the Good News of the Gospel in our lives with our family, friends and neighbors. God wants us to belong to Him, not to the world. After baptism, the choice of how we live is ours. Live it for God. God’s blessings to you and your families.

A Prayer for Vocations:
Heavenly Father, Your divine Son taught us to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send laborers
into His vineyard. We earnestly beg You to bless our Archdiocese and our world with many priests
and religious men and women who will love You fervently, and gladly and courageously spend
their lives in service to Your Son’s Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
We pray that their lives may be always centered on our Eucharistic Lord; that they be always
faithful to the Holy Father; and that they may be devoted sons and daughters of Mary,
our Mother, in making You known and loved; and that all may attain Heaven.
Bless our families and our children and choose from our homes those whom You desire
for this holy work. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

“And a voice came from the heavens, ‘You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.’” (Mark 1:11)
Through our baptism, we too, are daughters and sons of God. We are disciples of Jesus. As true disciples we are called to actively participate in our Catholic faith, not just be mere bystanders. This means working in collaboration with the Holy Spirit and discerning how we are being asked to use our gifts. Using our gifts for the benefit of others and not just for our own interests and comfort.
Have You Considered eGiving for Your Sunday Contributions? It’s a New Year - Simplify Something in Your Life
There is a “Donate” button on our parish website that you can use for your Sunday donations. This option takes you to the Give Central website, where you can sign up for a regular schedule of contributing that YOU set up. The schedule is completely up to you, and there are several frequency options including weekly, bi-weekly, monthly and quarterly.
You can also sign up for continued Electronic Giving for your Sunday Stewardship contributions through the parish, either by direct debit from your bank account or credit card, on a monthly or weekly basis. A form is available on the next page.
After signing up for electronic giving, never worry about forgetting your envelope again! It continues your support to Prince of Peace when you are out of town, on vacation or unable to attend Mass.
Parishioners who donate electronically to the Sunday collection receive a quarterly envelope packet, which contains envelopes for any special collections (i.e. St. Vincent de Paul, Holy Day & Archdiocesan collections) rather than the full monthly packet you receive now. Providing you with this new quarterly packet results in a savings to the parish.
If you prefer to write a check, or use cash, and use your envelopes, please deposit them in the collection box when you enter the church or mail your Sunday donations to the parish. Thank you for your continued support of Prince of Peace!!

ELECTRONIC GIVING FORM
Our Electronic Giving program assures a continuation of your support even when you are not here. We encourage all of our parishioners to seriously consider utilizing this program. Most of us find that we attend Mass at parishes other than Prince of Peace during the year, related to vacations, family events, etc. We have received positive comments from parishioners who already utilize this program such as, “this makes it so much easier” and “I have peace of mind knowing that when I am out of town my obligations have been met.”
Direct debits and credit cards can be processed dependent on your preference. Please see below for options. If you require a different schedule please call Barb Ruhl, in the parish office.
I (we) hereby authorize Prince of Peace Church, to initiate debits to my (our) account as indicated below. I (we) authorize the financial institution below, to credit the amount of such entries to my (our) account. This authority is to remain in full force and effect until I (we) revoke the agreement. Any revocation is effective only after Prince of Peace Church has received notification from me (us) to terminate this agreement in such time and manner as to afford a reasonable opportunity to act upon the notice.
