Neighborhood (SJGCC) Security By: Tom Hudson, Sampson Creek Community Development District (CDD) Board Member

Old News for Some… New News for Some…. Refresher for ALL

The Sampson Creek CDD (St John’s Golf and Country Club) contracts with two separate agencies, St John’s Sheriff Office (SJSO) and Central Secu-rity agency (CSA) to help moni-tor, secure, police, assist, and to have a visible presence to outsiders to name just a few. In addition to these two there is a group of volunteers associ-ated with Neighborhood Watch

Officers from the Sher-iffs Office patrol our communi-ty under two separate auspi-ces: a) normal patrol as part of the Northwest Quadrant of the county and b) as contracted by the Sampson Creek CDD. It should be remembered that the officers have citation as well as arrest authority regard-less of which authority is re-sponsible for their compensa-tion. The schedule for patrol

by these officers is purposely not published for reasons that should be apparent to all. Posts on social media indicate that speeding and failure to STOP are major concerns of the residents of SJGCC. Please know that citations have been and will continue to be issued. By having the SJSO in our neighborhood not only pro-motes adherence to traffic rules but also reduces re-sponse time when needed.

Officers from the Central Security Agency patrol the community in black sedans that are plainly marked. The primary reason for their em-ployment is to patrol and mon-itor the property that is owned by the CDD. In addition these officers have been seen help-ing change a flat tire on a bike or two, knocking on the door of a residence in the communi-ty to remind the occupant that the garage door is open. Dur-ing their patrol at night they have advised some residents that the dome light or other light in the vehicle in the drive-way was on. When school is in session you will see the offices patrolling our street to help promote safety around our school bus stops. The officers that are employed by the Cen-tral Security Agency have been

trained in law enforcement as they are all either former St Johns County sheriffs officers or military police. If you have not had a conversation with one of the officers of this agency, you should as they welcome the opportunity to get to know our residents. The officers of the Central Security Agency are contracted to pa-trol 7 days a week.

SJGCC resident Kim Kal-ke heads the volunteer group known a Neighborhood Watch. Neighborhood Watch will be featured in the September Newsletter.

For non critical situations the Sheriff Office can be reached by dialing 904 824 8304

To reach Central Security Agency dial 904 458 555

Obviously in emergencies dial 911

Remember these two agencies plus Neighborhood Watch’s prime mission is to help us maintain community as “the place to live” in northwest St John’s County.

,

It has been an interesting summer here in SJGCC. Between the pool opening later than expected

and the rainier than usual weather, more people have been spending time inside. We have talked to people decluttering, organizing and even taking on some fixer upper projects themselves- many while trying to enter-

tain bored children!

If you were one of the many looking to fix up that one thing in your home- either for you to enjoy or to add

value down the road - what did you do? For sure, homes with the most updates- and ones that most re-

semble some of the new construction styles out there-

are not only selling quicker, but they can command a higher price. Ultimately, though, we love when people

improve on their homes while they live in it so they can

enjoy. Paint is probably the easiest, least expensive up-

date you can make. HGTV and new construction homes

are showing buyers prefer the neutrals, whites and the

many shades of grays. By updating your color palette it instantly makes your home seem 5-10 years younger. We are also seeing a lot of white and painted cabinets in the kitchen and bath. Gone are the days when you need

to replace your cabinets. Painting them is a much more

affordable option and very popular right now. Lastly, and most expensively- but probably what will give you the most bang for your buck- is flooring. Wood look tile, wide plank wood floors and even LVP are new op-

tions. The key is consistency- whatever you decide to

do, do it throughout. It makes your home appear big-

ger and makes the buyer feel like the home is “done”.

For more tips on updating your home, come to the 5th

Annual St Johns Golf and Country Club Home Improve-

ment Show sponsored by the Watt Team and meet all of the fabulous vendors ready to help bring your ideas to

life. It is Tuesday, September 25th from 5:30-9:30 PM right here in our clubhouse. We will also have a fully

renovated home open to tour right here in SJGCC to in-

spire lots of great ideas. Hope to see you there!
