Segundo Domingo de Cuaresma

Here we are again, observing LENTEN SEASON. This great moment is part of our year journey. Yet, each of us seeks to answer this question in our own way. “What is Lenten Season?” It is more than just fasting, prayer and sacrifice. Actually, we live everyday in the realms of so many questions. One of them concerns the spiritual dimension of our life. In order to find an answer, it is imperative that we give serious thought and reflection to this question, “what God wants from me?” Do you ever wonder? God wants you to become the BEST –VERSION –OF -YOURSELF. How? Take an inventory of your life. The gifts, talents and resources God has given you and see if they match up with what you do. It is a constant quest to improve yourself. And this includes even to tests your limits. A famous author once said, “To be what we are, and to become what we are capable of becoming, is the only end of life.” When Lenten Season comes we do so many things, from intense daily prayer to rigorous fasting and tremendous sacrifice. What is the purpose of doing all this? Like so many people, maybe we have often believed that by this we could change our surroundings (things, places and people) then we would claim we have done something! The Best-Version-Of-Yourself occurs when YOU ALIGN YOUR MIND AND HEART WITH JESUS: The reason for the Passion of Christ was His Passion for you and me. His focus was on us and that passion is the power that you and I have access to. Jesus clearly tells us to live in his love. Love isn’t love until it is given away. And He gave it to us. Year after year, His love provided power of healing, provisions, good relationships, salvation and so much more to us. We have to do the same to others. Do you try to align your heart and mind with His? Just as Jesus chose His twelve apostles, He is choosing you today! Jesus did not choose them because of what they were to start with. He chose them because of what He knew they could become the best version of themselves . Likewise, Jesus knows that you can become the best-version-of-yourself. He gives you the tools you need. Just tap them into the passion of your heart. Father Sal
¿Te lo has preguntado alguna vez? Padre Sal

CRS Rice Bowl Pray, Fast, Learn, Give
Second Week of Lent — Hungering for a bountiful earth Loving God, help us to care for all that you have created. Week Two – Nicaragua Melvin Sanchez Ramirez makes his living as a coffee farmer in one of the poorest regions of Nicaragua. For him, his wife and son, it has always been a challenge, but they’ve managed to get by. Then came coffee leaf rust. The fungus killed off so many of Melvin’s plants, he had no coffee to sell. Catholic Relief Services is helping farmers like Melvin learn how to protect their plants from leaf rust. We’re also teaching them to grow other crops, like plantains and sweet potatoes. Not only do these crops add nutritious variety to family meals, they bring vital diversity to plantings so the family isn’t relying on one crop for their live hood. And, by joining a CRS supported savings group, Melvin is preparing for the future with others in his community. By planning ahead and working together, families like Melvin’s are making sure they have bountiful farms and better futures. Visit crsricebowl.org to watch a video and learn more about Nicaragua.
Recipe from Nicaragua: Gallo Pinto Makes 4-6 servings 1 large onion, diced 1 bell pepper, dice 3 garlic cloves, minced 4 tbsp of Olive Oil 2 cups of rice 4 cups of water 2 16oz cans red beans drained 1 bay leaf Salt and black pepper to taste Fried egg or cheese (Optional)
In a large pot , saute onion, bell pepper and garlic in oil. Stir in rice. Cook stirring often, until onions are soft. Add water and cook covered, until most of the water has been absorbed. Add beans and bay leaf. Mix well and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes. Serve hot with cheese or fried egg.
LENTEN PRAYER Lord Jesus, By your cross and resurrection
You have redeemed the world.
Destroy the reign of sin in my heart
And in the world.
Help me to see You
in all who suffer and
by Your grace Lord,
Grant that I may turn to You
In prayer, penance and almsgiving.
Amen
