September 2016

What a fabulous collection of grades! So many of our pupils have achieved their targets and personal goals and we are proud of them. This year has seen many improvements, - testimony to the hard work and relentless focus on excellence. Consistently high quality teaching has, when coupled with outstanding pupil/teacher relationships, raised the bar again. These results show what can be achieved if we aim high, maintain our focus, and support our pupils individually and as a cohort. Well done to everyone involved!

TEAM GaBs certainly knows how to achieve the goals. % English and Maths 72%5A*-C inc English / Maths 68.5%A* - G passes inc English / Maths 98.5%

As we begin our new school year, I would like to welcome our pupils back, in particular our new Year 7 and their families who join St Gabriel’s community for a journey of faith and learning. We continue to strive in the school year ahead to live out our school mission and distinctive Catholic nature; developing the whole child. Mr S.A. Smith

A final note fromHead of YearMr KillionThe class of 2016 marked coming to the end of their time at St Gabriel’s in a variety of fantastically memorable ways. In their final week together we celebrated their last ever assembly in the hall, combining heartfelt thanks for those who had helped them on their journey, with some less than serious awards and videos from staff. Their last day fittingly saw them share lunch together before a moving and emotional final mass.

On Thursday 23rd June 2016 the St Gabriel’s family came together in full school uniform for the final time. Looking down across a packed hall, it is amazing how time flies from the initial Year 7 Welcome Mass in Sept 2011.

The talents and personalities of our remarkable young people are certainly a reason to celebrate. Governors, staff, parents and carers watched proudly (some tearfully) as each and every member of the class of 2016 received their Yearbook. We wish them every success on the next stage of their journey.

Prom Night 2016

After the hard work of exams was completed, Prom then allowed some well deserved relaxation and celebration. Even the rain would not stop us celebrating for the final time together. Students turned up in buses, limos and even military vehicles, all looking spectacular and ready to finish off their celebrations in style!

Open Evening for parents and pupils in Year 5 and 6Thursday 22nd September, 4.30-7pm

St Gabriel’s House OpeningIn July we were delighted to take part across the miles in the opening of St Gabriel’s House in partnership with Bury African Outreach and The Good Shepherd Special School. The following dedication sent by Mr Smith played a key part in the ceremony where the new home for orphaned children at the school was blessed:

On this opening day God bless St Gabriel’s House and our special partnership.

We share a common vision that each person should be known, loved and valued by encouragement to realise his or her full potential. We aim to develop the whole person and enable him or her to make a positive Christian contribution to society. We are proud to be part of your Catholic family united by Christ’s teaching as we all strive to live the Gospel message.

We hope the children living in this home can Learn, Love and Believe to share in a better future for our world.

We look forward to more news and pictures of the Opening ceremony, which will drive our Coffee Morning fundraising efforts on 15th October.
