Belinda Ravan is a third generation St. Augustine resident. With this comes deep roots, a sincere love for her community and knowledge of the local culture that has been many years in the making.
Hard work is in her nature and she has taken her own unique path to success. Belinda started working at the tender age of 11 for a local hotel and at the age of 16 began managing and running the operation while raising her new baby who is now 16. She has also worked in short term rental management, which ultimately led to her decision to join the real estate profession. She began her real estate career as a licensed agent in 2001 and became a broker in 2003 at the age of 22. At that time, she partnered with another long time St. Augustine resident and opened Devane-Stratton Realty. She is now currently the managing broker at Endless Summer Realty where she helps mentor new agents and coach an amazing staff. Endless Summer Realty is an independently owned, family oriented group that continues to exceed its own expectations and goals. She leads with a positive outlook and a never give up attitude. She truly believes that if you work hard enough, you can make anything happen. She is married to Todd and is the proud mother of four children, three stepchildren and one new grandbaby. Her greatest goal is raising her children to appreciate the blessings they have been given, be good students and live in a happy home.

What's the Big Deal? With the warm weather fully unfurled, you've got some free time and some hot days before you. That means time off to spend at the beach, with the kids, away on vacation, whatever... You've got backyard BBQs, ballgames, trips to the local zoo, and a whole lot more to squeeze in, but you're not so certain how to make sure your summer vacation is looking and feelings its greenest. So let's lotion up, put some beer on ice, and get down to business.
1. Steppin' light Find local activities with low environmental impacts like a trip to the local park, woods, zoo, ballgame, or beach with friends to relax. Time spent with friends and family can be a great way to catch up and have fun. Picking up that new book you've been meaning to read while lounging on the deck is another great way to pass the time and leave a smaller footprint behind. The Deathly Hallows ought to keep you busy for a little while.
2. Cool and easy Air conditioning can offer much-needed respite from the heat and can make sweaty nights bearable, but be sensitive to overuse. Turning up the thermostat a few degrees on your AC is a great way to save tons of cash while making the planet a cooler place at the same time.
3. Up in your grill Love to BBQ? Propane burns much cleaner than either wood or charcoal briquettes. If you can't resist charcoal, try a natural product like those produced by Cowboy Charcoal--much cleaner than your traditional briquettes. Of course, when you're done grilling, use natural cleaning prod-ucts such as SoyClean organic grill cleaner to keep your summer as chemical-free as possible. Tests show it's just as tough on grime as traditional cleaners, but won't leave that chemical residue behind to leach into your next burger or grilled tomato. Plus, if you want to give your neighbors something to gossip about, try a solar over from a company like Solar Cookers International.
4. The local roundup Buy food locally. Farmers markets are great places to shop, and ensure that the veggies you're eating hot off the grill or mixed in a salad haven't traveled thousands of miles just to reach your plate. That cuts down on the use of fossil fuels, which leads to significantly reduced levels of pollu-tion and resource depletion over your typical tomato bought at the local supermarket.
5. The green plate special Use reusable dishes rather than plastics or Styrofoam. If you absolutely must use disposables, make sure to pick up compostable varieties before-hand to put in the compost bin when you're through. For more, check out Where to Get This Stuff below.
6. Greenie bikini You don't have to go so far as wearing a biodegradable or solar bikini to make your summer accoutrements more sustainable. Look for eco-friendly products like clothing, swimsuits, sandals, towels, and skin care. Each of them is a step in the right direction, and you might just fall in love with a product or style you never knew existed.
7. Charge! Pick up a solar backpack or device like the Freeloader or the Solio to take with you on day trips. That way, whether you're at the beach or on the go you'll be able to run and recharge a wide range of portable devices on solar energy. Save a buck by cutting out the electric company and giving your rechargeables the solar power they deserve.
8. No poison, please Remember those carefree days of running alongside the DDT truck as it sprayed the happy townspeople and iced all the bugs? Well, we're a little smarter now, so use products like garlic barrier to ward off mosquitoes. Traditional products certainly do the job, but they can end up turning your backyard into a deathtrap for every other kind of living thing that drops by for a visit. That means birds, butterflies, ladybugs, and even the family dog gets an unhealthy dose. Not to mention yourself, the kids, the neighbors' kids, and even your bratty nephew who lives down the block. Make sure to apply it when you think it won't rain for several days, and the garlic alternative should treat you right. Planting rosemary is a natu-ral and low-tech way to block skeeters. Then there are always the big guns like the Mosquito Magnet.

I have never seen so many different mice on the market, full size with a wheel, extra small with a wheel, and those great big mice with a roller ball that I am just not coordinated enough to use. And how about those strange shaped mouses with the buttons on the side that I personally don’t like either, I know it should be mice but if you have a box of computer mouses do you call it a box of mice, perhaps we need a new politically correct word to describe more than one computer mouse. And have you seen that gaming mouse that retails for just around one hundred and fifty dollars, now that doesn’t even look like a mouse to me. It looks like something out of the future which I guess we are in right now. Technology is exciting because it’s always moving and changing and we have to move and change right along with it or we’ll be left in the dust. Sometimes it’s nice to know a twelve year old who can show us the difference in all these mouses, and how to properly hold and use them, oh sorry I mean mice. And did you know you can even buy an LED color changing mouse, I guess that’s nice for people who like to compute in a dark room or just like a touch of color when their working.
Today I want to talk about the Logitech Touchpad Mouse, now this mouse is cool. Do people still say cool? Anyway I think it’s cool, a friend of mine who has corporal tunnel syndrome tried all kinds of, here we go again, mice. She found this touchpad mouse to be very comfortable, it takes some getting used to though, especially when moving and or resizing windows, however once you get the hang of it you’ll find it’s pretty easy. And if you’re use to using a touch pad on a laptop this mouse will be a breeze.
It’s nice and wide measuring about five inches by five inches with a slick glass surface. It feels really nice. And retails for about eighty dollars, there are other touchpad mice on the market; however this is the one I’ve seen and used in action and I like it.
One really nice feature is that you can sit back in your chair and hold this mouse in your hand, yep that’s right no more hunching over the desk with your hand on the mouse. It’s a nice feature especially when you’re on the computer for long periods of time. This mouse is wireless and charges with a USB port right from your computer. So if you’re looking for something different or your hand and wrist hurt from using a regular old fashion mouse this might just be what you’ve been looking for. Oh and don’t forget, don’t give your mouse to much cheese!

AFFILIATE / REALTOR COMMITTEE BIKE DRIVE FOR ADVOCATES for UNACCOMPANIED YOUTH

Jasmine Tucker~First Florida Insurance, Marlene Lagasse~Estate Title, Dina Empson~Harbor Community Bank, Don Pires~Sterling Home Inspections, Jay and Pat Kane~ Pop-A-Lock, Rick McChesney~Coldwell Banker, Penny James~Alarion Bank Mortgage.
Behind everyone is a trailer with 13 more bikes on it.
The Affiliate/Realtor Committee voted early this year to support the St Johns County School District, Advocates for Unaccompanied Youth. We decided
to focus on the young adults / teenagers that typically receive fewer services from other organizations.
Who are they? They lack fixed and adequate nighttime residence. Most are in unstable living situations because they do not have parent/guardians
or those parent/guardians are unable or unwilling to care for them. They “couch” surf between relatives and friends or live where other homeless
people live.
Amazingly! They attend school!
They are identified by the SJCSD Homeless Liaison, Chris Stone
We wanted to give them a helping hand by removing the barrier of transportation. This will help them get to school and summer jobs. We asked our
members for donations of bikes or funds to purchase bikes and helmets as needed.
WE DELIVERED TWENTY FOUR BICYCLES, LOCKS AND HELMETS!
We received bike Donations from Irene Arriola, Ron Barry, Brenda Beason, Shirley Bennett, Andrew Birchall, Kea Blalock, Janice Brown, Michael
Dowell, Anna Gulick, Mary Jacobs, Bill Knetge, Gayle Logan, Teresa Mercurio, Berta Odom, Judi Schuyler, Rob McGee-Olde Town Title, Donna
Jimmerson-HomeStar Financial Corporation, Dina Empson-Harbor Community Bank, Penny James-Alarion Bank Mortgage, Jasmine Tucker- First
Florida Insurance.
Also Thanks to Don Pires, Sterling Home Inspections who donated time and A trailer for transporting the bikes. Estate Title allowed us to store the
bicycles in their storage building. Pat and Jay Kane, Pop-A-Lock donated bike locks. We passed a donation jar at the last General Membership
Meeting and received over $550 to purchase additional bikes and helmets.
On behalf of the REALTOR®/Affiliate Committee thank you to EVERYONE who helped to make this happen!
We continue to COLLECT FUNDS as this is a year- long project! School will be back in session in just a couple of months. ~Penny James

WASHINGTON (May 29, 2014) – Pending home sales improved for the second straight month in April, according to the National Association of Realtors®. Gains in the Midwest and Northeast offset declines in the West and South. The Pending Home Sales Index,* a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings, increased 0.4 percent to 97.8 in April from 97.4 in March, but is 9.2 percent below April 2013 when it was 107.7. Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, expects a gradual uptrend in home sales. “Higher inventory levels are giving buyers more choices, and a slight decline in mortgage interest rates this spring is raising prospective home buyers’ confidence,” he said. “An uptrend in closed sales is expected, although some months will encounter a modest setback.” Yun projects the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage to trend up and average 5.5 percent next year. “The extent to which higher mortgage interest rates will impact housing affordability and sales depends on income growth, ongoing improvement in the labor market and any change to mortgage underwriting conditions.” The PHSI in the Northeast increased 0.6 percent to 79.3 in April, but is 12.0 percent below a year ago. In the Midwest the index rose 5.0 percent to 99.2 in April, but is 6.9 percent below April 2013. Pending home sales in the South slipped 0.6 percent to an index of 111.9 in April, and are 6.4 percent below a year ago. The index in the West declined 2.9 percent in April to 88.4, and is 15.0 percent below April 2013. With sub-par activity in the first quarter, annual existing-home sales are expected to be modestly below the nearly 5.1 million in 2013, but should be close to 5.3 million in 2015. The national median existing-home price is projected to grow between 5 and 6 percent this year, and in the range of 4 to 5 percent in 2015. The National Association of Realtors®, “The Voice for Real Estate,” is America’s largest trade association, representing 1 million members involved in all aspects of the residential and commercial real estate industries.
# # # *The Pending Home Sales Index is a leading indicator for the housing sector, based on pending sales of existing homes. A sale is listed as pending when the contract has been signed but the transaction has not closed, though the sale usually is finalized within one or two months of signing. The index is based on a large national sample, typically representing about 20 percent of transactions for existing-home sales. In developing the model for the index, it was demonstrated that the level of monthly sales-contract activity parallels the level of closed existing-home sales in the following two months. An index of 100 is equal to the average level of contract activity during 2001, which was the first year to be examined. By coincidence, the volume of existing-home sales in 2001 fell within the range of 5.0 to 5.5 million, which is considered normal for the current U.S. population. NOTE: Existing-home sales for May will be reported June 23, the next Pending Home Sales Index will be June 30; release times are 10:00 a.m. EDT.
