Our entire task in this life, dear brothers and sister, consists in healing the eyes of the heart so that our eyes may be able to see God.St Augustine. Theres something in the Gospel message so simple, so loving. So extraordinary, so excessive, because everything Jesus does is done to excess. At the wedding in Canaan, he gives an excessive amount of wine. When he multiplies the bread, he does an excessive amount. To love our enemies is an excess of love. When you are hit on one cheek, turn the other. Everything is excessive, because love cannot be otherwise than excessive. Love is more than enough. John Vanier. God is not only paying our debts: God does not only restore us to life on earth, God does not only take us from earth to heaven: God gives to excess, God is the God of abundance and plenty. The God of the big feast. We can never discover the depths of Gods Love. When we do try we are caught up in the Love of God who loves beyond what we are able to dream or imagine. Consider Ascension Sunday and Pentecost as the Big Feasts when it is for us who are given every good gift beyond what we can under- stand or take in. Come, let us celebrate the feast of the Fifty Days: the day which concludes the Feast of feasts; the day on which the promise is fulfilled; the day when the Comforter descends upon the earth in tongues of fire; the day of the disciples’ vision to see where we are going. A time of great excess, a generous and kind excess of God’s Love being poured into our lives. NEW PARISHIONERS: Welcome to our parish! Please fill in this box and hand it in to the Parish Office. Reflection from Pope Francis for World Environment Day 2019 "Saving our common home In the lead-up to World Environment Day on 5 June let us reflect on these words of Pope Francis: ‘Young people demand change. They wonder how anyone can claim to be building a better future without thinking of the environmental crisis and the suffer-ings of the excluded.’ This is the time for us to indeed hear “the cry of the poor and of the earth” and act. Can we consider biking or walking to church or to our local shops or using skype for meetings where possible. Mass Rosters: We are now into the second week of the new roster round. There are a lot of named rosters in the folders in the atrium which have not been picked up. (These rosters have been in the folders for over 2 weeks). The rosters include Altar Servers, Ministers of the Word, Commentators and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. We are finding that a number of people are not turning up for the Mass they are rostered for and we are having to find substitutes just before Mass starts- this is not ideal! If you cannot make a Mass that you are rostered for, please follow the established practice of finding a substitute or contact the Sacristan for your Mass. Could you please make sure that you collect your named roster so you have it at home for reference. Many thanks.

SICK / ELDERLY AT HOME If you wish to assist with Communion to the Sick, and or if you have a sick companion you wish to be visited. Contact Co-Ordinator Marla at [email protected] or inform the parish office.

ELDERLY IN REST HOMES or in HOSPITAL families contact the parish office.

MONDAY MASS QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY 8AM Audio Visual Ministry: In some large parishes there are people who have a ministry of service to the church by being responsible for Microphones and Audio and Visual equipment. They work for the people in the parish they belong. We don’t have a ministry team in our parish. This team, if established, would be able to roster and supervise Sunday Masses, Funerals, Weddings, and all events that happen in the Church Many times, the equipment has been adjusted by various groups. Many of our Musicians bring their own gear because the Church’s equipment has been broken, taken, or just left around. If there are people who could take this responsibility it would be a great help for the few who are always asked to sort the problems when they arise. It is difficult when this is left to one or two people, and who are busy with their work and commitments to be called to sort out the problems caused by everyone changing settings and risking our expensive sound system gear. If you could see yourself being part of this group, contact the Parish Office and leave your name so that we can establish such a ministry of service.

But it does need, to be discussed.
